10 comments so far (post your own)It was the Blues Brothers that got me into the Blues. I was suprised to find out how many Rock songs were ripped off from Blues artist without giving them credit. Willie Dixon set up a foundation to help Blues artist get recognition for their stolen songs. the Blues Brothers gave full credit to the artist whose material they performed and it bothers me to see these rip-off artist in the RRHOF while the Blues Brothers are not even considered for induction. Dan Aykroyd (The Blues Brothers; USA For Africa) Posted by Roy on Thursday, 12/20/2018 @ 10:26am |
As a member of the Blues Brothers, Dan Aykroyd used the name Elwood J. Blues, and he sang and played harmonica. Posted by Roy on Tuesday, 01/1/2019 @ 19:18pm |
Monty Python should have a page on FRL as well Posted by Roy on Saturday, 10/10/2020 @ 16:23pm |
The Blues Brothers weren't singers even if they sang in one movie. Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi sang as the Blues Brothers on Saturday Night Live before they were in a movie, but I wouldn't consider them singers. There was also Blues Brothers 2000 that had John Goodman. The Blues Brothers movies may have had a lot of good music, but they weren't singers. They were actors. Some of the comments here are only serving to show how little people know about the blues brothers beyond the movie. Posted by Sammy GD D on Tuesday, 06/14/2022 @ 14:27pm |
Dan and John... AKA Jake and Elwood blues... Dan played harmonica regularly with the Down Child Blues band... Therefore , he IS a musician and can sing.... John--- Little known fact that John was a drummer... All this before they were comedians, BEFORE SNL.. and both sang as well as any blues artist, in fact better than some blues artists. So as musicians in the very real sense, they toured with a very real band.. The Blues Brothers in a major way. resurrected a dying genre.,..... HELL yes they belong in the RRHOF Posted by SKARFFER on Friday, 01/27/2023 @ 20:37pm |

Singers with a great band most of Booker T and the MGs . Should be for reviving the blues and rock influences of Muddy Waters John Lee Hooker Howling Wolf Coco Taylor so many more . Willie Dixon . Who cowrote more hits than anyone in history for the greatest . Songs stolen from them are embarrassing . Blues Brothers need to be in just for the reason of waking us up .
