Billy Joel is the Man! He is a Quadruple Threat! A fantastic singer, a phenomenal pianist, a deeply poetic lyricist, and an all-around great song writer. Plus, his back-up band is one of the best (Liberty DeVito is one hell of a drummer). From 73 to 93 he made nonstop great albums and great songs. And for all the skeptics out there who think Billy Joel is a Soft Rock balladeer just because of songs like Just the Way You Are and She's Got a Way, well then u don't know Billy Joel. Every album he has approximately 11 great rock songs and 1 sappy ballad, you can't blame him that the sappy ballad's were the songs most played on the radio. Buy The Stranger or Glass Houses or 52nd St. and listen for yourself. The man can groove like no other, and he sings with some badass Mojo.
Any real Rock'nRollers should take my advice and go listen to some Joel, before you know it you'll be keeping the faith.

I agree with you wholeheartedly...for the most part. I would not put him in the top 100 singers (neither did Rolling Stone), but he is one of the best songwriters, and pianists, of our generation. And even the sappy ballads are gems, even if he doesn't (or isn't legally allowed?) to sing "Just the Way you Are" in concert anymore.

2013 Kennedy Center Honoree!!! Very deserving.

Trying to think of those RRHOFers who have also received this award. Let's see, Fats Domino, Paul McCartney, and of course, Chuck Berry.....
