Still a badass to this day. Only behind Siouxsie Sioux and PJ Harvey in terms of female snubs.

If you guys need a great laugh right now go to Sinead's Facebook page and read her latest post bashing the Kardashians and Rolling Stone.

Wow, I didn't realize she was 'previously considered'. Sure, she's a great singer/songwriter (or was) from Ireland. I did like a few of her songs, despite her wacko-ness. Do I think she'll get in? Who knows. I think the public still hasn't forgotten the SNL performance from '92....

Your comments about sinead biting the hand that feeds her. Let's remember she was taking a stand against the Catholic Church for covering up the abuse against children. We all no how that ended up while everyone saw blood they all forgot the reason. Sinead is pure rock and roll with a voice so raw and pure. If she is not inducted soon I will loose hope for the rock hall. I love sinead. Pure as they come

Name a white woman not named Joan, Joni, Stevie, or Madonna that has been inducted. Name a non-American white woman nominated. Oh, yeah, the Swedes! ABBA? Name the Irish men inducted? Sinead and Enya are the wrong demographic,: foreign, white, female....

One of the great singer/songwriters. She could've been up there with the likes of Mitchell, Baez, Armatrading, Joplin etc. if not for her eccentric.stunts and pro IRA comments. She did herself no favours, but great songwriting nevertheless.

Anyone who grew up in the late 80's and 90's knows that no other artist was more loved and listened to by the woman of this time period than Sinead. Like most female artists their influence can't be measured in top ten singles. Ask most women in their 40's who listen to the most and I bet Sinead O'Connor is at the top.

I can't think of a woman more deserving. No voice hits me so deeply. So brave, so epic, turning pain into art. So ahead of the times in sound and style. Yes f*ing PLEASE INDUCT HER!! One of my hero's forever. Keep telling truths sister.

Let's get back to an artist with a pure artisrty & I'm speaking of the artistry that is Sinead O'CONNOR.
Speaking from a truth within she has an honest passion for justice that speaks with conviction in supporting the thousands who suffered molestation of the catholic church..
Today we now are willing to speak of our stolen childhoods. The Me Too!!!
The father that took the innocence of many males & females & speak way before her time.
For some of us who endured that and so much more. I We, Thank You. I Believe That The God Of My Understanding Has
Always Spoke Through You.Very Clearly Spoke to Me that You Hear Me , You've Truly Felt My Pain.
Its an honor To speak up & plead for the votes for Sinead O'Conner to be recognized for her amazing pure insightful songwriting & performance.
She deserves the recognition & not to be treated as a piece of shit.
She speaks for the abused child that I was.
She speaks in support of your reproductive rIghts.
She stood down & denounced racism before while I was grasping to understand She understood.
Sinead O'CONNOR a white woman, who understood the pain & stood up to the cruelty that was happening to her brothers & sister's in England,
She would come bring it all to us in the USA. With an intensity & fire within her soul to speak her truth.
I am today an intuned & in touched human with my convictions & beliefs becuase of the beauty that is,
Sinead O'Conner.

Re: silly comment from AI.
Ah, YES! Who cares what she did on SNL other than maybe a bunch of religious bigots and the fools who decided it was a reason to derail her career. O'Connor was one of the most original & powerful musical talents of the late 80's & 90s. The Lion & the Cobra, most of it written by her as a teen, stands as one of the top albums of all time. Not to mention the continuing acclaim for Nothing Compares after 30+ years (though I think Troy was her real masterpiece). The RRHOF is already weak on recognizing female artists and overlooking Sinead O'Connor would be a big mistake.

Just listened to "Troy", what a masterpiece. You hear bits of her childhood trauma in it , about "you should have left the light on"

(At 8 years old her mother sexually abused her and psychologically/physically tortured her, one incident was that she was left in a garden locked outside for a week, the only light in the house would then go off and she was left in the dark screaming. )

In this song she recalls that and intertwines it with so many other emotional narratives throughout her life, like it's all just one big pain to take on, and it's just so layered, such a raw and genius vocal masterpiece.

Her career was cut short for doing the right thing and she never had the comeback say that the Dixie chicks had after their own political stunt,

Tori Amos is in the same boat, essentially the real starter of the "me too" movement. little earthquakes was a groundbreaking album for feminism, but she was often labeled fake/eccentric for being free range .

Two women who stood up for what they believed in and spoke out against injustice. The 90s had a lot of them and it's time the hall start to recognize these brilliant musicians,/poets. So far they've only acknowledged from that decade….Sheryl crow. No bjork, no pj Harvey, fiona apple (the most relevant alternative artist of 2020) , the cranberries, Lauren hill and so many more who left not just a musical impact but cultural change,

The reasons why Sinead is hall worthy:

1. She was a badass right from the start. Her distinctive look made her stood out from the crowd of female singers who dressed feminine. She shaved her head, dressed like a punk rocker, gave zero f's. Very rock and roll.

2. Her debut album "The Lion and the Cobra" instantly made her a star among the college radio / alternative rock crowd. Her raw, intense, turbulent take on the singer/songwriter genre with an alternative rock twist would help pave the way for the likes of Tori Amos, PJ Harvey, Sarah McLachlan, Alanis Morissette, and Fiona Apple.

3. Her debut album, its nomination for best female rock performance at the 1989 Grammys, and her iconic performance of "Mandinka" at the same Grammys made her an industry favorite.

4. Her next album "I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got" further helped her toe the line between being alternative and mainstream. People tend to credit Nirvana for "introducing" alternative rock to the mainstream, but it was artists like Sinead and R.E.M. who were both popular among the alternative crowd and mainstream crowd.

5. She made history as the very first female artist and the very first artist overall to win the best alternative music album Grammy for "I Do Not....". In true Sinead fashion, she did not want that Grammy lol

6. The number of artists she collaborated over the years (even the ones who are already in the hall) always spoke highly of her as an amazing musician with an originality that's incomparable (nothing compares 2 Sinead eh?).

7. She was a great troublemaker who wasn't afraid to openly protest on issues that made people feel uncomfortable.

8. She lived the rock and roll ethos of not giving a you know what. She didn't care about being famous, making money or having hits. She was a rebellious protest singer first and a rock star second.

9. Her music and her fearless attitude continues to affect fellow musicians and new fans alike. A 2022 documentary on her life and career received critical acclaim. An upcoming tribute concert next month at Carnegie Hall celebrating the life and music of her and Shane MacGowan further shows the love fellow musicians have for Sinead.
