Any garage band started after 1968 was influenced by the Troggs. Three gold singles may not be enough to be a consideration, but again a garage band with only moderate production and record label backing was able to top the charts. Posted by Dave on Tuesday, 12/8/2020 @ 11:57am |
Note Milestones comment above in 2009 about British invasion groups not yet inducted into the Hall. It appears those he singled out have been reduced to just The Troggs. Interesting... Posted by Dave on Tuesday, 12/8/2020 @ 12:03pm |

Man, a big Troggs discussion back in 08/09. I can't see these guys ever getting inducted. Maybe if Punk rock becomes the dominant form of music & thus proto-punk would be recognized & celebrated far beyond what it is today, then maybe they might get inducted...in 2077. If the Zombies are in the RRHOF, then the Troggs should be too. They also pass the "Does Steve Miller Suck Worse Than Them" test. Posted by Bob on Friday, 08/13/2021 @ 00:51am |
Remake of The Troggs Love Is All Around by Wet Wet Wet in 1994 Posted by Roy on Friday, 08/13/2021 @ 03:34am |
Give credit where credit is do. If RHOF inducts punk bands like Eminem, Eurthymics, Duran Duran and Blondie plus adding the Zombies then the Troggs and Hollies need to be in. I'm nostalgic and when I hear "Love is all Around Me"or "WILD THING" from Major League or with the Hollies with Graham Nash "Hey Carry Ann" or "Carousel" then my youth is restored. They apparently had influence with several bands as mentioned. Jimi Henrix apparently liked the "Wild Thing." I couldn't believe it took them so long to induct Moody Blues or Doobie Bros.
