Latest RS has an article written by Mr. Fagen about his Coachella experience. In it he mentions AC/DC and says something to effect of 'I stopped listening to radio when our first album hit in 1972, so I'm not sure who they are, etc. etc.' Posted by Paul in KY on Monday, 04/27/2015 @ 07:47am |
Steely Dan haters must not be actual musicians. If there are any musicians (on any level) who cannot appreciate the invested quality, clever creativity and unique sound of Steely Dan they must be living a comatose and vacuumed delusionary existence and their opinion is much less than rubbish! Non-musicians who hate Steely Dan: just sit down and shut up! No hope exists for you nor do you deserve any opinion until you play or write any song or anything of value. Rest in Peace Walter Becker, 1950-2017 Posted by Joe on Sunday, 09/3/2017 @ 10:10am |
My fave band of all time. Fagen/Becker were a genius team and wrote some of the most intelligent, groovy music of the 70s. Danceable songs paired with caustic, witty lyrics. And they say Americans have no sense of irony! These fellas certainly did! Posted by Jason Marley on Monday, 08/10/2020 @ 07:16am |
In all fairness, Steely Dan isn't the most consistent band, they've made some pretty awful tracks. Aja in my opinion , is their most consistent album. Plus it's been sampled by MF Doom, which makes it ok in my book. Posted by FunkRock87 on Thursday, 08/27/2020 @ 08:43am |
Funkrock87 - What the eff are you talking about? Steely Dan was the most consistent band I can think of. Each and every track was expertly played by the very best in the business, every album was sublimely produced and they did not outstay their welcome. They quit after making 9 exquisite albums. What more do you want from a band? Posted by Steelydanfan on Thursday, 09/3/2020 @ 11:33am |

Some people say they find Steely Dan sterile and soulless. While they're obviously not everyone's band of choice, I don't know how anyone can say their music lacks heart and soul. Maybe some ignorant folks think exceptional musicianship equals soulless. Posted by Steelydanfan on Sunday, 03/26/2023 @ 14:29pm |
Rest in Peace Jim Beard, keyboardist for Steely Dan from 2008, 1960-2024. Posted by Joe S. on Thursday, 03/7/2024 @ 15:44pm |
