9 comments so far (post your own)Petula Clark should be in the RRHOF. She was a big influence on later female rock singers. First there was Petula, then Grace Slick and Linda Ronstandt. Posted by Myrna Mandjikov on Wednesday, 07/8/2015 @ 16:48pm |
Eligible for induction since 1983. Winner of a Grammy (Downtown), more hits than Dusty Springfield(already a member), Queen of the British invasion: It is a crime that she hasn't even been nominated. Someone needs to put a bug in the ears of the nominating committee! Posted by Seery Chamberlain on Monday, 02/22/2016 @ 08:59am |
Petula Clark is the greatest RRHF snub. Why? Uncool according to notorious R&R standards; 1960's artist - the decade that sold the most vinyl; white; female; non-American; MOR not even rock even tho she had TWO Billboard #1's; 6 languages; only 70 million records. Petula had a "Soul Sister card" early in her career. Posted by michael Gleason on Wednesday, 12/7/2022 @ 21:10pm |

How could she not be in the R&RHOF??? She WAS the female sound of the British Invasion. With all respect to Darlene, Petula had a string of #1 hits and sold something like 70 million albums worldwide - in four languages! Posted by Jonah R Giacalone on Friday, 12/30/2022 @ 15:43pm |
I grew up listening to Petula and later in life collected the remaining albums I never owned in vinyl. She deserves to be in the Hall of Fame, but as Ian Anderson (of Jethro Tull, also snubbed) has suggested, the rock and roll hall of fame is made up of US officials that have not fairly dealt with performers from other countries. Both Clark and Tull are far more talented than many current inductees.E Posted by Steven Harvey on Tuesday, 01/3/2023 @ 15:25pm |
Been a fan of Pet since '65 when I saw her on "Ed Sullivan". In that era, I didn't need to get "high" or "screwed up" to appreciate her music. A very popular pop singer in Europe well before The Beetles! Shame your not an International "Rock 'n Roll" hall of fame. Posted by Robert Faires on Sunday, 02/18/2024 @ 11:55am |
