33 comments so far (post your own)How come Meat Loaf isn't in? He's one of the biggest acts (what, 350 pounds?) in the music industry! (Sorry, I couldn't resist!) Posted by Joe on Friday, 01/4/2013 @ 00:18am |
Meatloaf is a unique talent. I've always liked the power in his voice. He puts his entire heart in every song. Like the songs Objects in the rearview mirror & Rock & Roll Dreams Come True. Posted by KING on Wednesday, 01/29/2014 @ 16:26pm |
He blows. One gimmick album with some of the dumbest "story-line-songs" I've ever heard. Rivaled almost only by the likes of "Pina Colada." And I remember when he came out and it was just as dumb then. Posted by matt on Thursday, 03/10/2016 @ 20:03pm |
Whew. For a while there, I thought that Meat Loaf would be the next posthumous HoF nominee. Posted by Joe on Friday, 06/17/2016 @ 22:17pm |
WTF? Loaf is an 80's power-ballad GOD. MosDef deserves in HOF! Posted by Mike on Thursday, 08/3/2017 @ 17:37pm |
Ew. Why is he even an option? Posted by Michael on Saturday, 11/3/2018 @ 14:36pm |
There aren’t make many names who cited Meat Loaf as one of their influences. Not gonna happen. Posted by The Dude on Saturday, 11/3/2018 @ 15:39pm |
Music is primarily opinion based therefore anyone advocating against or for meatloaf are neither correct nor incorrect. That being said him and Steinman should be inducted, together they created an incredible album. The music industry nowadays is such a disgusting money grab with stupid song length caps and the focus on pumping out singles. Music has and always will be best served up in album format. Examples being Pink Floyd, Roger Hodgson, Meat Loaf, and many more (just off the top of my head). The art of albums is close to nonexistent nowadays with radio play and top charts ruled by the same couple artists that pump out singles or albums with no coherence and 2-3 "good" songs. How many artists nowadays branch away from their syle/sound just to stay "relevant" by radio standards. Sorry for the rant, but lately ive been going through lots of old bands and artists that my parents introduced me to and the amount of talent and songwriting skill they have compared to most of whats popular nowadays is not even close. Like I said Music is opinion based but today's society just feeds the money monster that is our present music industry. As a 20 year old I wish I could have enjoyed most of the artists I like when I could still see them live but unfortunately thats not an option in most cases. His name was Robert Paulsen. Posted by Jason Voigt on Tuesday, 07/2/2019 @ 19:03pm |
Meat Loaf's comments on Greta Thunberg are proof he'll never get inducted into the Hall. Posted by The Dude on Monday, 01/6/2020 @ 11:45am |
Meatloaf was an amazing performer and definitely belongs in the Hall, as well as Boston, Styx, and Pat Benetar who have also been snubbed to date. These 4 acts really knew how to "rock it out" which is what the core essence of the Hall should be. It really seems weird to me that the likes of the Johnny Cash, B.B King, and the Bee Gees (all 3 of which I love) are in a place called "The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame" when guys like Meatloaf don't even get considered. If you think that Meatloaf was just a 3 or 4 hit wonder ("Bat Out Of Hell," "Paradise by the Dashboard Light," "Two Out of Three Ain't Bad," and "I Will Do Anything for Love"), think again. Just listen to these lesser known songs by him: "Out of the Frying Pan," "You Took the Words Right Out Of My Mouth," "Heaven Can Wait," "I Couldn't Have Said it Better Myself," "Objects in the Rearview Mirror," "Testify," "Good Girls Go to Heaven," "Did I Say That," "I'd Lie For You," "Alive," "Dead Ringer for Love," "Blind as a Bat," and so many more. If you listened to and liked the Meatloaf songs that I listed in my last post, here are a few more that you should definitely check out: "Mercury Blues," "Rock and Roll Dreams Come Through," "All Revved Up With No Place to Go," "Life Is a Lemon and I Want My Money Back," "Everything Louder Than Everything Else," "Runnin' For The Red Light," "It's All Coming Back to Me Now," "For Crying Out Loud," "Lost Boys and Golden Girls," "When The Rubber Meets The Road," Because of You," "If God Could Talk," "Jumpin' The Gun," and "I'll Kill You If You Don't Come Back." Meatloaf was the "King of the Long Rock Ballad!" He DEFINITELY had a BIG INFLUENCE on this important aspect of Rock Music. This important artist/performer/storyteller in song deserves his rightful place (along with his key writer, Jim Steinman) in The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Rick Steinman and Meatloaf should both be introduced into the rock and roll hall of fame, due to them both recently passing in 2021 and 2022, not these new artists that aren't part of the rock and roll era of 60's, 70's and 80's music, there's a list of artists I could name who should be in here like buddy holly, Little Richard, Chubby Checker and more. Posted by Liam Gawthorpe on Monday, 01/24/2022 @ 08:41am |
I mean to put Jim not Rick but they both should be in the hall of fame. Posted by Liam Gawthorpe on Monday, 01/24/2022 @ 08:46am |
He definitely doesnt deserve to be in. He only had one relevant album. And he was quickly forgotten Posted by David Fink on Tuesday, 01/25/2022 @ 15:28pm |
The fact that Meat Loaf has been passed over for induction is deplorable! Now that his voice has been silenced forever, we need to honor his immeasurable contributions by inducting him posthumously. Since his passing, his albums have flown off the shelves! His music still remains relevant after 40+ years!!! Posted by AMC on Friday, 01/28/2022 @ 08:10am |
Meat Loaf created Iconic music, with one of the best selling albums of all time. Posted by Barnaby Murray on Friday, 01/28/2022 @ 21:19pm |
Meat Loaf is a rock legend. I'm stunned he's not in the Hall of Fame. Any day now surely? Posted by Dan Smith on Saturday, 09/17/2022 @ 05:23am |
Meatloaf is a mixed bag. Enjoyed bat out of hell II enough I bought some really lame recordings of his. But he did 1/2 album with Uncle Ted who does belong in. 24% for Meat but only 8% chance for Nazareth with 25 recordings most of which were better then Meat's catalog.
