Hey, Madness are cool. But they are to ska what UB40 are to reggae. Popularizers and gateway artists, not really influential because they are so obviously influenced. Posted by msicism on Thursday, 03/4/2021 @ 16:41pm |
YES PUT THEM IN. From the late 70s to the early 80s, their songs, like It Must Be Love, House Of Fun, and Our House, are essential, and might be iconic. Our House even successfully charted in Billboard Hot 100. They were also good in the late 1990s with their album Wonderful, and its single Lovestruck. So please, please, please put them in! Madness were one-hit wonders. Their one hit was "Our House." I saw that one at least one VH-1 show that featured 100 songs from one-hit wonders. Posted by Brian Schonour on Sunday, 09/4/2022 @ 21:55pm |
So many top 10 hits around the world - House of Fun, My Girl, It Must be Love, Baggy Trousers, Wings of a Dove, Our House, One Step Beyond, The Sun and The Rain, etc. Still going strong today and released the critically acclaimed Liberty of Norton Folgate in 2009. Not to mention they closed the London olympics and performed on the roof of Buckingham Palace! Unknown in the USA bar a couple of hits though so unlikely to get the nod.
