9 comments so far (post your own)I am very saddened to hear about the recent passing of Lemmy Kilmister, not only was he important to Motörhead, but he was also an important and influential member of Hawkwind. My most sincere condolences to his family and friends. Lemmy will certainly be missed. :-( Posted by Enigmaticus on Monday, 12/28/2015 @ 23:18pm |
Thanks for mentioning that, Enig. His work with Hawkwind tends to get overlooked. Posted by DarinRG on Monday, 12/28/2015 @ 23:34pm |

Hawkwind was eighth on the list of "Top Ten" progressive rock bands in the U.K. Here is that list: Posted by Enigmaticus on Tuesday, 12/29/2015 @ 14:21pm |
Hawkwind should be in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame. Posted by Sal Robert Pauciello on Monday, 05/30/2016 @ 18:05pm |
Far move accessible than The Velvet Underground or Syd Barrett's Pink Floyd (who are in the hof). They out jam the Grateful Dead (also in the hof) and have more albums and lasted longer than any other band than maybe The Rolling Stones (also in the hof). They invented true space rock... what the hell else do they need do? Probably the hardest working band on the planet. Posted by Peter J Sitero on Wednesday, 02/6/2019 @ 21:17pm |
Peter, IMO, it isn't 'Syd Barrett's Pink Floyd' that is n the Hall. It is David Gilmour & Roger Water's Pink Floyd that is in the Hall. Posted by Paul in KY on Thursday, 02/7/2019 @ 09:47am |
I had just wanted to mention that Hawkwind is the featured artist on the new issue of PROG Magazine, issue no. 103. Posted by Enigmaticus on Tuesday, 10/29/2019 @ 09:07am |
You people are too hung up on LABELS...i know of NO great group or artist that likes to be pigeon-holed with some kind of a classification or genre that they're supposed to stay in...it limits them, and their potential audiences. The only "genre" needed is ROCK N ROLL!! "Space rock"....that's not a style of music...it's just a two word description...and who wants their music to be summed up with one or two words?
