11 comments so far (post your own)Stuart is the most under rated singer/songwriter of ALL time and should be honoured for the joy he brought to so many..as innovative as ray davies..say no more...backed by the brilliance of Bruce, Mark and Tony, Big Country were fantastic live with a lovely touch of warmth and humility you don't find any more ..thanks Stuart..much missed..RIP Posted by steve on Friday, 09/5/2014 @ 19:07pm |
Bug Country made 3 albums that entered the top 3 in the UK. As well as Fields of Fire and In a Big Country, there was The Seer (with Kate Bush), Where the Rose is Sown, Look Away, One Great Thing and many, many more fabulous tracks. Should they be in the Hall of Fame? Of course they should by any criterion you can judge them by. Will they be? No - because it's an American market that judges them. Shame. One of the best, most relevant bands of the 80s in my opinion. Stuart Adamson was a force to be reckoned with both as a songwriter and musician. Maybe not popular enough in the states to be considered though, which is a shame. Posted by StunningStocktaker on Monday, 09/30/2019 @ 10:49am |
Actually not JUST Stuart Adamson. All of the band members were masterful musicians. Posted by StunningStocktaker on Monday, 09/30/2019 @ 10:51am |
If an underrated band that made completely original kick ass music were ever to get voted in, this is the group. For the people that think it's just one song is laughable. They sold 10mm+ albums over their career, The Crossing is one of the most innovate badass debut albums ever. Unfortunately US fans like crap like Nickleback and 38 Special so they couldn't relate to anything so completely beautiful as Eiledon or Porrohman. Nobody sounded like BC before they came along and nobody since and there's something to be said for that. Posted by ShawnE on Wednesday, 10/28/2020 @ 16:16pm |
Big country is always been a powerful driving ban and should be nominated in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame because of their lyrics and their sound Posted by Robert Sanders on Wednesday, 12/2/2020 @ 20:17pm |
R.I.P. to Stuart Adamson. Let me just say this with the utmost honesty…I first listened to Big Country's hits "Big Country" and "Fields of Fire". My parents bought me the album Posted by Jeff Railey on Friday, 01/13/2023 @ 02:07am |
Yes, Big Country''s musicianship is underrated. Stuart Adamson (R.I.P.) was an outstanding songwriter and his vocals are beautiful and powerful. Tony Watson and Mark Brzezicki were an awesome rhythm section. Big Country's music lives on. Posted by Jeff Railey on Friday, 01/13/2023 @ 02:13am |
Stuart was a genius. It makes my head explode to hear 'one hit wonder'. All the lads were great. I listen to their music almost daily. It is a crying shame they are not in the hall. The Crossing was genius, Steeltown was a brilliant follow up, and everything up to Damascus was fantastic. Posted by Wren Picasso on Wednesday, 02/22/2023 @ 01:15am |
Innovative musical craftmanship that is hard to find these days. Bruce and Mark have assembled a team to honour the 40 year anniversary of the Crossing. Posted by Ton ten Dam on Monday, 03/13/2023 @ 15:06pm |
Why have Big Country been underrated? It's true that they have but why? A concerted effort by less musically competent and jealous insecure acts to keep them down has been at work. Posted by John on Sunday, 12/17/2023 @ 01:04am |
