Please don't let that LP be as lame-sounding as your name. PLEASE!
Posted by liam on Sunday, 12.2.07 @ 10:23am
I'd like to hear you come up with a better name.

Who knows who debuted this year will still be finding success in 25 years? The only band on this list that (judging from 1 album, which is ambiguous at least) has any chance IMO is She and Him...assuming they actually keep recording.

wow looks to me like those artists are some kind of a joke

If you had recently requested an artist be listed, it is probably up now (over 75 have just been added).

Can't say I can see anything with a lasting impact from that list

"Can't say I can see anything with a lasting impact from that list"-Keebord
So from a highly incomplete list of 12 artists that formed this same year, you are unable to predict what impact any of them may or may not have 25 years down the line?
Tell me more.

Flight of the Conchords counts? Then just put Adam Sandler and Steve Martin in there.
Posted by Alex H on Sunday, 10.12.08 @ 01:47am
Conchords actually released their debut album in 2002 although I think it was only available in New Zealand.

So they're actually eligible earlier much sooner than expected. Plus, the Grammy winning The Distant Future EP was released last year, so it should have read 2032 in the first place. Anyway, just mentioning all of this so people will understand what happened once the Conchords' eligibility date ends up being changed and they're no longer on this page.

Well there you go Casper. They're no longer on the list!!
Posted by Keebord on Saturday, 10.25.08 @ 10:57am
I hope next year won't have these artists.
Posted by Mike on Monday, 10.27.08 @ 13:36pm
I hope they have the Naked Brothers Band in 2034 (not sarcastic).
Posted by Jason on Monday, 10.27.08 @ 13:38pm
In response to an earlier question. Nope.
Posted by Keebord on Saturday, 11.8.08 @ 14:07pm
I swear that some awesome debuts were released this year. I'll try and look over my list of albums I kept on my HD/iPod from 2008 and see if anything fits the criteria.
Posted by Casper on Tuesday, 11.11.08 @ 16:54pm
Nope. Guess there aren't any. Lots of great acts that released a single or EP a year or two ago with no attention and then have ballooned into something more popular. This is a great year for music though.
Posted by Casper on Tuesday, 11.11.08 @ 16:59pm
I guess we have to keep in mind that the bands releasing singles on their MySpace pages right now to no attention will be next year's critical darlings.
But certainly, looking at the crop already listed, none of these will stand a chance.
Posted by Casper on Tuesday, 11.11.08 @ 17:01pm
Honestly, it's way too early to tell, but looking at the list, the only one who would really a chance is Lady GaGa...there's not any noteworthy bands here yet...let's wait for a few more years to see who else has a shot.

Micachu.
Lady Gaga.
The Very Best.
I have a feeling they'll all do some pretty cool stuff in the future.
Posted by kkikk on Sunday, 02.14.10 @ 16:49pm
Micachu is the next Bjork.
Lady Gaga is the next everything else.
Put them in!!!!
Posted by kkikk on Sunday, 03.7.10 @ 22:25pm
Definatly Lady Gaga & Kid Cudi.
Kid Cudi is basically the " Young Kanye West "
Lady Gaga is makin HIT AFTER HIT!
Posted by MC on Saturday, 03.27.10 @ 15:54pm
I'd say that in 2033, nobody will remember who Lady Gaga was. Also being referred to as a "young Kanye West" is a good thing HOW....?????

And since when do hits guarantee induction?
Posted by The Drummer on Sunday, 03.28.10 @ 11:39am
Well Gitarzan it is a good thing because Kanye has won a ton of grammys and has topped the charts. And if Madonna is in the hall, trust me Lady Gaga will too.
And "the drummer", Hits actually matter. Are u telling me a band/artist can have NO hits and make it in the hall? Which means not even 1.

Bands/artists with no hits:
The Velvet Underground
The Stooges
Leonard Cohen
Frank Zappa
Sex Pisotls (No hits is the US)
Jeff Beck
Posted by Gassman on Sunday, 04.11.10 @ 15:48pm
Well, that's only if you're using the Hot 100... but actually, Frank Zappa did hit the Top 40 with "Valley Girl."
Jeff Beck had several hits on the Album Rock charts, and Bubbled Under The Hot 100 with "Hi-Ho Silver Lining."
Posted by Philip on Sunday, 04.11.10 @ 16:08pm
Yeah basically you got it "Phillip" said what I meant.
"Gassam" what about Anarchy in the U.K or God Save the Queen? God Save the Queen went to No.2 on the U.K Singles Chart.
Posted by MC on Sunday, 04.11.10 @ 17:25pm
Florence And The Machine seem promising, if a bit too light.
In the case of La Roux... Well if the synthpop artists who influenced them can't get in then I doubt they will.
Lady gaga will unfortunately have a good chance.

First off, his name is Gassman (if you're going to put his name in quotation marks you could at least bother spelling it right, you also spelled Philip's name wrong), secondly, he said "no hits in the U.S." or do you think the U.S. is in the United Kingdom, MC? Judging by your earlier comment about some imaginary rule that says an artist can't be inducted if they had no hits I wouldn't be surprised if you did...
Posted by Tahvo Parvianen on Friday, 02.18.11 @ 07:39am
OFWGKTA
Lady Gaga
Mumford & Sons
I'd like to see Kid Cudi there as well, but critics aren't that into him.
