Pearl Jam for sure, and you could make a case for Aphex Twin or Stereolab. Amos and Live will probably be on the ballot.

Pearl Jam and 2Pac for sure. I really liked the Cranberries but they didn't do enough to get in.

2Pac, Pearl Jam, PJ Harvey and Tori Amos are this year's crop.

Would love to see The Prodigy get in. They still get some hits played on the rock radio station here.

Definitely 2pac

I could see the Prodigy getting in, but if it's not on the first time, then I doubt it would happen at all. I do remember the hype surrounding Fat Of The Land, what with everyone expecting UK Big beat to take over from the then-crippled Britpop. Three superb albums out of four, and Experience was probably the only non-compilation Rave album worth having.
2pac certainly made his mark on hiphop and rap, and what's more he's dead. Almost certainly a lock.
Pearl Jam's Ten alone ensures them induction.
I wouldn't expect PJ Harvey and Tori Amos to be inducted in the same year.

Oh yeah, forgot about Aphex Twin. Remember, he was one of the main factors in Radiohead changing their sound.

2pac will get in and finally come out hiding to perform. I cant wait.

2Pac, Alanis Morissette, Pearl Jam, PJ Harvey, Tori Amos will probably all get in (though Alanis is on the bubble).

I sure hope Alanis isn't getting in
Dreadful music

2016/2017 seems like a fairly clear-cut ballot. Pearl Jam and P.J. Harvey one would think will be on it along with backlog artists and perhaps the Cranberries or the Prodigy. The Cranberries declining reputation may make them less likely.
Alanis Morissette will get in, but around the 25th anniversary of "Jageed Little Pill", which is the first recording she has not disowned. Similarly, with "Cowboys From Hell" celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2015, Pantera could well be on the 2015/2016 ballot, though I think it may take them a few ballots to get in.
It is really difficult to see Tori Amos in when predecessors Kate Bush and Laura Nyro have not been inducted and are hardly on the short list of eligible backlog artists. Kate Bush in fact has never got a single vote from the nominating committee, and even if she does get some around the 25th anniversary of "Hounds of Love" it is impossible to see her getting on the ballot against the competition of the rap, thrash and grunge revolutions.
Unless the Rock Hall keeps inducting pop artists discredited by critics like Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey, it is hard to see Boyz II Men in the Hall, and most of the remaining artists listed are too commercially unsuccessful to have a chance.

let's see... The Prodigy make great dance music and have influenced, they actually have a shot (Madonna got in) but they're basically one-hit wonders here (Firestarter), Tupac is a household name and is influential to most of today's rap market, and Pearl Jam is obviously a lock.
Posted by lame on Sunday, 05.17.09 @ 15:29pm
This year looks pretty easy to me: they're really aren't any difficult cuts to be made and I think those who will be inducted are easy choices.
My votes:
Pearl Jam (the lock)
PJ Harvey
Alanis Morissette
2Pac
The inductees:
Pearl Jam
PJ Harvey
Alanis Morissette
2Pac
Tori Amos doesn't make it on this ballot, neither do the Cranberries.
Posted by AreUExperienced on Monday, 07.13.09 @ 19:31pm
Blur's not on the list... Leisure was released '91. :)
PJ
Pearl Jam
2Pac
and... Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch!
Honest opinion, Pearl + 2pac are definites, (I'd be extremely shocked if they didn't get in) Tori/PJ/Alanis <--- one of the three chicks, and I wouldn't doubt the possibillity of Blur being
inducted.

2Pac
Alanis Morissette
Pearl Jam

2Pac - Wow. Best selling rap artist of all time, with less than 5 years to do it in. No chance he won't get in.
Aphex Twin - techno god
Cranberries - easy to nominate
LFO - ok techno that is now dated
Seal - his descent into Adult Contemporary could leave him out
Pearl Jam - who do you think will induct them?
Alanis Morissette - you oughta vote
PJ Harvey - why do the critics love this person so much? not successful, nor influential IMHO.
The Prodigy - they do stand a chance

I don't know, maybe because she's a fine songwriter???
You insult P.J. Harvey but insist The Cranberries are viable nominees? And The Prodigy?
Comments like these simply make me wish the Hall would collapse immediately. It seems even more pointless every year. Just open up a museum for popular music and leave it at that.

Where Is Avenged sevenfold? they were voted number two band of the decade(2000-2009)only to lose the number one spot to Mettalica.
Posted by Matt W. on Tuesday, 06.22.10 @ 23:03pm
why r there even rap groups in the rock and roll hall of fame? there should be a rap hall of fame
Posted by jayjay on Tuesday, 06.22.10 @ 23:07pm
Pearl Jam are taking up a spot immediately, and rightfully so. Ditto for 2Pac, though I'm not sure if he had the kind of influence on rock that Public Enemy and Beastie Boys have. The Cranberries had a good run but they become a footnote as each year passes and they don't regain their popularity. Messhugah? Maybe. Kyuss? Maybe. EMF and Spin Doctors are one-hit wonders, so you can write them off. Probably not to Live (no chance.) I can't comment on the rest just yet.
Posted by Sam on Friday, 06.25.10 @ 21:42pm
I meant Messhugah maybe should get in, though there's no chance they will. Sorry.
Posted by Sam on Saturday, 09.11.10 @ 02:14am
This would make an awesome ceremony. All the big names from the 90s inducted the same year! It won't happen though.
Guns 'n' Roses
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Nirvana
Pearl Jam
Nine Inch Nails
Alice In Chains
Boyz II Men
Mariah Carey

Not a bad band, but you're right. They'll never get in.

what about guns n roses they deserve to be induted

2016.
2pac - Obvious pick, one of the biggest names in Rap history.
Alanis morissete - Might have a chance due to the massive sucess of Jagged Little Pill but it might not be enough.
Aphex Twin - Really influential electronic music guy, but if they won't acknowledge Kraftwerk they won't pay attention to Aphex.
The Cranberries - Nah, they didn't do enough in the long run.
Cypress Hill - Oh please, these guys would barely warrant induction in a rap hall of fame nevermind a rock one.
Joan Osbourne - One big hit ain't enough.
Live - See Joan osbourne.
Paul Weller - Nah, maybe with the Jam
Pearl jam - a lock, biggest grunge band that isn't Nirvana.
PJ Harvey - The biggest alt rock artist/band this year that isn't Pearl jam. Not first ballot but i find it likely she'l lget in,
The prodigy - Quite revolutionary when it comes to techno but I doubt they'll get in.
Ricky martin - yeah right. The buggers ain't even got Sinatra in!
Right Said Fred - nah, they're way too sexy for the hall anyway.
Spin DOctors - see Joan osbourne
Temple of the dog - wasn't this a one album project with the guy from soundgarden? well, that one album wasn't particularly sucessful of influential, so no.
Tori Amos - Not seeing it myself., bit left field for the hall.
so in short:
Likely: 2pac, Pearl jam, PJ harvey
Possibly: Alanis morrisette

This will be my final prediction for near, I'm only looking at the next five years, so here is the class of 2017.
1. Pearl Jam- Shoe-In's
2. 2 Pac- Shoe-In
3. Soundgarden- With Nirvana and Pearl Jam getting in, now soundgarden can also join
4. Jane's Addiction- They will get induction during their 25th year anniversary of Lollapalooza.
5. Heart- The sister of Seattle will finally get in the year where the hall salutes 90's alternative/grunge.

I have a question regarding the "Eligible Artists/Currently Eligible" sections.
Can anybody explain how & why some artists names are big & puffy on the page, while others are tiny(almost microscopic in some cases)?
I mean, I think I have a pretty good idea of why certain names are highlighted, but I'm wondering how it happens. Do the names get fatter due to people voting for them? Does it have to do w/influence? The amount of comments folks leave behind?
You've all heard "don't feed the troll?" Maybe this is a case of "don't feed the bands". We need a nutrition expert here :)
Posted by Cheesecrop on Saturday, 05.5.12 @ 06:51am
Cheesecrop, it seems the higher the induction chances an artist gets on here, the fatter their names get on lists like these (the 2016 newly eligibles, the 2017 newly eligibles, etc). Now, what exact criteria FRL goes into giving an artist a certain % I would like to know myself.
Posted by Tahvo Parvianen on Saturday, 05.5.12 @ 07:54am
This is the Rock Hall of Fame, yet I feel slightly disappointed Everytime I see a pop artist in this list. I feel somewhat stressed because what will happen to the great groups that will eventually die out(rock groups that are actually great). I don't know what you people think, but that's just my opinion.

Obvious First Ballet locks:
Pearl Jam
2Pac
Second/third:
Alanis Morissette
PJ Harvey
Tori amos: is a secret 4th/5th ballater lock. Perhaps for a weak year, she will have a laura nyro style induction. Just wait until you start to see her influence in the coming years. Innovation wise, she was important for those that followed her (fiona apple, alanis), oh, and one more thing: she is one of the greatist artists of all time and an absolute genius, my absolute favorite artist ever. Check the links I posted on her page if you beg to differ.
The crannberries/live/seal: had about 1-4 timeless 90s hits each, enough? hell no, but kiss from a rose, lightning crashes, and all four crannbery hits win my honorable mention

Not sure about greatest artist ever but Little Earthquakes is one of the greatest albums ever.

I, think the best band, not yet elected to the rock and roll hall of is hard rockers Thin Lizzy.
They were, a superb live band, released 13 albums and had 17 top 60 hits.
They, HAD 5 TOP TEN ALBUMS AND THEIR LIVE ALBUM Live and Dangerous was voted best live album ever!
They were fronted by the great Phil Lynott a tremendous, singer, songwriter and bassist.
They had brillant lead guitarists Eric Bell, Brian Roberson, Scott Gorham, Gary Moore , Snowy White and John Sykes.
The had an awesome drummer Brian Downey and good key board player Darren Wharton.
Thin Lizzy, have influenced many rock bands and Hard Rock bands Iron Maiden, Def Leppard, Metallica, Saxson, Bon Jovi, Smashing pumpkins, The Darkness and Guns and Roses.
Thin Lizzy, are on of the finest hard rock bands ever and have left a tremendous legacy.
Thin Lizzy deserve to be elected to the hall of fame!
