I agree with Martin. I'd throw Bad Religion in there too.

For f*ck's sakes, as my grandma used to say, where the f*ck are The Replacements? Madonna over the 'Mats in '07? So being a media whore (and a whore in general) is the primary qualification these days, huh? With douchebags like Paul Schaffer and Robbie Robertson as voting members, it is no small wonder that they can't get it right with their heads so far up their own asses, being the narcissists that they are and like to celebrate, you know, like media whore Madonna.

Wow, you might have picked from among THE worst possible inductions from these lists. I'm OK with Ministry, but there are some more important New Wave and (proto-)techno artists still out.
The top-5 from this year are Depeche Mode, Eurythmics, Hüsker Dü, New Order and The Replacements.

Wow! So many great acts are here that haven't been inducted yet. I would love to see ABC, The Bangles, Duran Duran, the late great Laura Branigan, the brilliant Lionel Richie, Phil Collins, Soft Cell, and Stevie Nicks.

Soft Cell is the only worthy act on the list.
New Order and Depeche Mode aren't worthy to lick Soft Cell's shoes.

Jim Carroll would have been eligible in 2006 I think. Not that his career deserves it; but his song "All The People Who Die" is a f'n classic.

The Replacements are actually very likely.
Jim Steinman needs to get in as a non-performer

Depeche Mode - how more millions of records do they need to sell to get in? How much larger a world wide following? how many more sold out tours?
Duran Duran - practically printed money for MTV in the 80s. Set the tone for visual merchandising of music, and really, quite good as musicians, even though this is very often overlooked.
Husker Du - without them, there would be no Nirvana or Pixies or Weezer, and on and on. Incredibly influential.
Ministry - without them, there would be no Linkin Park or Staind or new-metal.
New Order - singlehandedly reintroduced dance music to the rock world and laid the way for the Rave movement and many new genres. Not to mention their Joy Division stuff.
Minor Threat - huge influence on punk. Without them, there would be no Offspring, and well, Fugazi.
ABC, interesting, but not that successful or influential.
Billy Idol, while impressive as a performer, his music is just ok and there is not a whole lot of hits.
The Replacements - I love them but I dunno if enough people ever heard them to warrant being in the hall.
Stray Cats - can we put just Brian Setzer in?
the rest are footnotes or should go in with their bands (Fleetwood Mac, Blondie, Talking Heads, etc.)

How can you say what you said about Husker Du when The Replacements were more popular and as (maybe even more) influential. You're not making any sense.

Maybe to the Crue, yes to Venom, yes to Husker Du and The Replacements, maybe to the Eurythmics, maybe to Bad Religion, yes to Ministry, yes to Minor Threat, maybe to Mission of Burma, probably to Depeche Mode, maybe to Duran Duran.
The rest aren't really worthy. Stevie Nicks doesn't need a second decision, Billy Idol had some awesome hits but isn't important enough, Soft Cell were just a one-hit wonder, ditto for A Flock of Seagulls, Phil Collins isn't important enough, and Bananarama were a one-hit wonder.
