Rock out, ladies! I love me some rockin' women.

Don't hate them because they're beautiful. They were really talented, prolific, and innovative.

I love the Go-Go's.

Well, they were right in the mix of the early 80's punk-pop-new wave-rock sound, and they were a notable all girl group. Enought deserve in after a half dozen more significant early 80's acts, like Eurythmics, Cars and... oh I dunno - The Cure maybe?

The Go-Gos proved that an all-female band can do everything that a male band can do - including ruin their own promising career thanks to drugs, alcohol, and petty squabbling.

That's girl empowerment, baby!
I wonder if they had the male equivalent of groupies and indulged in after concert fan sex, like a real rockstar counterpart?

Posted by shawn on Monday, 08.20.07 @ 12:28pm

Well, they did make a sex tape so I'd say that's a safe bet.

A fun little group, no question, but I'm not sure they're hall-worthy.

I am sure they are not

Well, I think it's obvious they should be inducted, because they've got the beat.
They've got the beat.
They've got the beat.

Yeah.
They've got the beat.

The Go-Go's without a doubt deserve to be in the rock n roll hall of fame. They were the first female band to achieve a #1 albumn. They wrote their songs, played their instruments, rocked with the best live shows.
Their influence is still very heavily present today, twenty six years after their debut.
Hell, Yeah, they deserve it!!!

Do the Go-Go's deserve to be in the rock hall- yes!
Two important measurements are the influence they have had on other musucians and the fact their songs have withstood the test of time.

The Go-Go's opened countless doors for women and have influenced many artists- female and male. There are a lot of girls out there that picked up guitars because of them. That is important.

The Go-Go's music has withstood the test of time. Our Lips are Sealed, We Got the Beat, Vacation, Head over Heels are all 80's classics. They wrote them. They had a lot of natural talent.

Let them in!

If the Rock Hall's criteria is that the artist be influential, then the Go-Go's should be in. Period. Like someone else said they were the first successful all-girl rock band.

The Go-go's are one of my favorite bands. I love them all especially Kathy when she dances around with her bass. It would be an insult not to induct them into the hall of fame. They have proven that they can rock just as hard as the boys. I don't have a particular favorite Go-go, I like all of them.

2 monster songs on their debut album. Not much after that. Love Belinda Carlisle's vocals. Band should not get in, however.

Not before the Runaways! Without them, the Go-Go's may never have been. But special kudos to Suzi Quatro - the real Suzi Q.

The go gos are the best. They were the first all girl band (including all girl songwriters, managers, etc.) to ever gain success at the number one hit type level. They were trailblazers and other girl bands would not have been given a chance without the go go's' doing it first. I loved listening to their music as a kid and still do. Put them in. They deserve it.

Patrick - before the GoGo's - the Runaways need to be inducted first.

I'd much rather see the Go's rock than Jagger. That guy looks scary.

What would the 80's have been without the Go-Go's? Kinda like Sonny without Cher.

So many other bands were dispensible. Long live the Go-Go's

The Go-Go's definitely deserve to be in the Rock Hall. They wrote their own songs and played there own instruments. They rock!

Not before the Runaways; who if it wasn't for them, the GoGo's may never even have happened.

It is time Joan, Lita and the rest of the gang receive their just due.

Their 15 minutes of R&R fame was longer than most bands - but in the end 15 minutes of fame pretty much what they amounted to.

I really liked them and they deserve to get in. Great music. Trailblazers. Cmon, how many times were they turned down because they were girls. They partied hard, but they looked like the girls next door. They didn't have to resort to the sex kitten image. They made a difference, which most 80's bands can't say. Believe in yourself, and maybe don't use so many drugs... :)

How is the hell are they NOT in yet? Jesus Christ! They paved the way for most if not ALL the female artists of today! No other group except for the Bangles and maybe a select few other female bands wrote their own songs, played their own instruments, etc. They are a cultural icon of the early 80's....

Posted by Jeff on Tuesday, 08.31.10 @ 11:09am

They paved the way for 50 % of the human population...think about it..before the Go-Go's women playins and /or writing their own material were looked on as a novelty...after the Go-Go's it was (rightfully0 expected. they made Rock history also--the first and--30 years later--the ONLY all female band to hit #1 on the album charts....and they did it all without a man pulling all the strings like the Runaways, the Supremes or the Dixie Chicks...above all that remember...before Madonna, there was the GO_GO"S..

The Go-Go's are way underrated and should finally get the recognition they deserve. Not only are they the incarnation of girl power, they are also über-talented.

Everyone on here who thinks The Go-Go's are not worthy of being inducted are either just idiots or have never actually listened to The Go-Go's. They are by far one of the greatest bands of all-time! No disrespect meant to The Runaways, but EVERYBODY knows who The Go-Go's are. Thirty years after their debut, they are still rocking it out and have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. God Bless The Go-Go's!!!

Posted by Wendy on Saturday, 10.1.11 @ 01:19am

This is not a vocal group! Just take a moment to listen to Kathy Valentine's bass lines! Chick bassists! Hell yes!!

Posted by Black Dog on Saturday, 02.11.12 @ 23:16pm

I'd say NO to Go Go's RRHOF although I enjoy Belinda Carlysle's voice and the groups sound. Head Over Heels & Our Lips Are Sealed. I think The Bangles have a better chance at induction. They can't be placed in RRHOF over Duran Duran, Def Leppard, The Cure, Judas Priest, Moody Blues, Chicago and several other deserving bands. KING

If Joan Jett can get in, then there should definitely be a spot for these ladies. While their career was not long, they managed to write and perform all of their music with an all female group. They influenced the Bangles and many other female groups that came after.

If the RRHOF wants to keep making improvements to the amount of female inductees, why not start with them (and Pat Benetar not far behind)?

I think the key to me here is they were song writers too (of major hits to boot) and that is hugely influential.

I think the GO GO's are a Go
