Here's the thing I don't get:

Quincy Jones, Sergio Mendes, and Robert Miles are producers who release albums under their names, but other artists perform on their albums. When those artists songs chart on Billboard, the producer is credited, not the artists who are performing.

What were the names of the singers who sang Never Gonna Let You Go? It was one man and one woman, but it was Sergio Mendes' name on the credits in the Billboard 100 Singles Chart. He was not the singer.

Actually, whenever I saw Brazil 66 on TV, Sergio was always playing the piano in the background...

mrxyz...people were saying on here that he didn't "perform"...which isn't the case. With Brazil 66 besides playing the piano he also provided background vocals.

If they are saying that they are wrong.. I have seen him many times.. He is the leader of his band.. Plays the piano and controlls the musicai direction.. He even sings on some stuff.. Kinda like Fleetwood Mack.. Only Sergio is far more in control than Mick.. Have yeah ever heard Mick sing ..? LOL

Actually, Sergio Mendes qualifies for the main performers category as well, but he'll probably be inducted in the Lifetime Achievement category ala Herb Alpert.

Classic A&M artist!

Despite of that, I wish there was a chance for him and at least the Brasil '66. The 'Timeless' album that came out about 7 years ago was an effort that tried to reboost his image as a legendary international musician, but sorry to say I don't think it helped. I mean, it had modern-day acts like the Black Eyed Peas and Stevie Wonder on it, but still....

I enjoy listening to the Brasil on vinyl, plus some of his later work. He was well-diversified. And of course, he'll still be around until the very end. But for now, the 60s groups and singers that haven't yet been inducted is already backlogged. Let's hope!
