Yes, Evanescence should be added. Why not? Their the best band EVER and work very hard at what they do. Amy Lee (lead singer of Evanescence) has amazing vocals, and she works so hard. Evanescence DESERVES this.

Posted by victoria on Friday, 03.16.07 @ 11:40am

Absolutely!!!

They are the best young rock band out there today!!!

Their music is creative, imaginative and true Wagnerian rock!!!

Posted by Miriam on Friday, 03.16.07 @ 13:08pm

Evanescence deserves it.
I think they're one of the last good rock bands...
They definatelly MUST be there....

Posted by Sanja on Friday, 03.16.07 @ 14:28pm

They have to. They must! They're on of the last good rock bands in the world. Amy Lee is amazing at what she does, and she keeps getting better. She's an excellent role model, and eve though this isn't about the individual people, it's about their music, and they definitely deserve to be on here. They more than deserve it, we, their minions, demand it!

Posted by Kaity on Friday, 03.16.07 @ 15:13pm

One of the last good rock bands in the world? Are you kidding me?

That is about the worst insult you could give to the hundreds of excellent modern musicians today: to say that they're inferior to a bitch who can't sing without pitch correction technology and writes shitty songs with trite lyrics no better than the crap a middle-schooler craps out in a "creative writing" class. Her digitally enhanced voice is the only tolerable part of it all and that goes out the window in live performances. They have neither innovated nor inspired. They are crap.

Turn off your radios and actually find good music. It's pretty much everywhere if you want to look for it at all.

THEY BETTER WIN.
*stops before going into lesbian mode*

Posted by Rachel on Friday, 03.16.07 @ 16:17pm

Yeah, i think they definitely should. Some would argue that they arnt original enough and didnt have any influence because there weer bands doing what they do (female singer in a rock group with classical influences) (i.e Nightwish, Within Temptation) BUT my argument is that yeah, theyre not the first BUT they are the first to do it in a way that was able to catch the publics attention and put something that sounds new and fresh on the radio. And Evanescence paved the way for other dark, female-fronted, classically influenced rock bands to break through, such as Lacuna Coil.

Posted by Jordan on Saturday, 03.17.07 @ 10:55am

Questionable about this band, but they are probably the first female-fronted hard rock band in like ages to do well...though not critically. The last album well...it's really not doing that great at all. Fortunately, they got a few time.

And William, please shut up now. You are the definition of a music elitist, always finding flaws with some of the bands out there. Some of the band you are suggesting either has done very little to the rock industry. I never hear their names at all.

BTW, this band was influenced by Korn, which further backs them up as proof Korn should be in the hall whether you like it or not.

Posted by maplejet on Friday, 04.6.07 @ 13:08pm

It's not hard to "find" Amy Lee's flaws. She just cannot sing very well at all. It's not like I have something against every mainstream female singer or anything, because most of them are very good singers even if the material is lacking in substance, but if you listen to any of Amy Lee's work outside the studio, she's tone-deaf. That in addition to writing lyrically vapid songs as well as having near nonexistent influence and completely nonexistent innovation equals a no.

Posted by William on Friday, 04.6.07 @ 15:32pm

She's hell of singer . The only tone deaf person is you Billy Boy

Posted by ---------------- on Tuesday, 05.8.07 @ 03:17am

Evanesence broke the barrier for bands with a female singer they should toatlly be in the hall of fame.

Posted by PERSON on Sunday, 05.13.07 @ 10:15am

Seems Evanescence picked up the torch from previous bands that actually did break the barrier with female singers - like Blondie, Heart, the Pretenders, Eurythmics, Staple Singers, Fleetwood Mac, the Mamas and the Papas, Gladys Knight and the Pips, Tina (of Ike) Turner, not to mention all-girl bands and individual women themselves who made a huge impact.

Posted by Moni3 on Sunday, 05.13.07 @ 10:26am

"She's hell of singer . The only tone deaf person is you Billy Boy"

Yeah, she's the singing equivalent of a trip through hell

"Evanesence broke the barrier for bands with a female singer they should toatlly be in the hall of fame."

I won't make a list (just check out the comment above) becauseif you're thick enough to think that this is the first band with a female vocalist (she cannot sing I could probably have less difficulty reaching the high notes) then don't bother commenting here

I have decided that I will no longer use LOL, now it is RUBBISH! :-)

Posted by Anon on Friday, 11.30.07 @ 10:09am

I'll tell you what is rubbish: people who call underground artists shit because they're underground

Posted by liam on Friday, 11.30.07 @ 10:12am

No, I said that "sometimes" bands are underground for a reason, one of which is because they are not that good. Of course there are many underground bands that are good and are underground for a different reason. Got it, "Michael"?

Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, 12.1.07 @ 11:47am

"Sometimes" lightning hits people. Big whoop.

Posted by Liam on Wednesday, 06.4.08 @ 10:59am

Joydrop was better.

Posted by William on Thursday, 06.5.08 @ 12:42pm

Well, Liam, I wouldn't exactly consider myself illiterate, depressed, or to have "shit taste", but I rather like this band. Yes, Amy and Evanescence took the torch from many of the bands listed above, but there are very few bands recently that have scratched the success Evanescence has had. Now, sales definitely shouldn't be the only factor, but they should be taken into consideration (just because a band is a creative, critical darling...if no one has ever heard of them, there's a problem).

And is it really necessary to call her a whore, regardless of what you think of the music? Hell, she's been an artist who has made the point of not trying to exploit her sexuality to sell records...the exact opposite of a whore.

But really...it's so difficult to judge bands now that won't be eligible for another 15+ years. No one knows how long they'll be around or what they'll do to increase/decrease their profile. Get back to this in 2018.

Posted by Trey on Tuesday, 07.8.08 @ 14:18pm

Eanescence is SOOO gonna get the place in that year.

They're the best band you can find nowadays

Posted by Karloz on Tuesday, 08.19.08 @ 23:06pm

Enough nagging they are a disgrace and are worthless shits

Posted by King Krapp on Saturday, 08.23.08 @ 13:43pm

This is an odd case for me. I love Evanescence, but I'm divided over their inclusion. They have paved the way for female fronted bands in MODERN music (you don't see a lot of female fronted bands in the modern days that have a rock sound) and Amy Lee is a good vocalist, but then they don't deserve to be in due to the fact they are pretty recent and they don't have the best lyrics. So overall, I'm 50-50 on their inclusion. It could go either way, really.

Posted by Joey on Tuesday, 08.26.08 @ 21:19pm

Great group, but it's too soon to tell if they will be influencial. We just have to wait and see.

Posted by Dude Man on Monday, 08.3.09 @ 08:53am

The so should get in. If you turned on the radio in the early 2000's all you heard was 1 awful rap song after another. Evanescence rocked out and saved us!

Amy Lee was so influential in thousands of young women wanting to get into music. So many bands have tried to be like them and haven't come close.

Evanescence, the greatest band in the world!

Posted by Ken Janson on Monday, 08.3.09 @ 17:42pm

umm, their last CD sold like 5 million copies. If that's not doing well, I'd like to do just as bad someday!

Posted by Rofl on Tuesday, 10.20.09 @ 00:57am

Nightwish and Within Temptation were redefining symphonic metal/female fronted rock in the mid-late 90s, sorry to burst your bubbles, teens.

Posted by Lotte on Wednesday, 01.6.10 @ 19:55pm

They have a new CD out this fall, if it goes multi-platinum like their first 2 did, then they have a serious chance.

Posted by Being Fair on Monday, 04.5.10 @ 00:54am

people call them "whore" "shit" "bad" and look... 75% wants Evanescence, that band made a huge work and touch millions of teenagers, amy lee open a door to a lot of female singers in the rock, yes, she's not perfect, she dont have the best voice live, but, she has real music, and real feelings in her lyrics... 2023 is so far away, and we dont know, so, a man insulting a woman? wow, that's awful.

Oh and P.S. they aren't even eligible until the 2024 ceremony

Posted by Tahvo Parvianen on Wednesday, 06.30.10 @ 14:44pm

Yeaah, Evanescence deserves for making quality music, the lyrics are great and the mix of rock with classical music makes perfect melodies sung in the voice of mezzo soprano Amy Lee.

Posted by Mayara on Wednesday, 06.30.10 @ 15:33pm

where did these Evanescence vote coming from? it's flooding

Posted by chubaka on Wednesday, 06.30.10 @ 17:17pm

Guys... I'm a big fan of Evanescence and I think they should be on Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Amy Lee is just a girl who is trying to make her music and Evanescence HAD opened the doors to other Female bands like Nightwish, Within Temptation, Epica, Tristania, etc, although those bands had been rocking years before Evanescence came out....
Tarja Turunen (ex nightwish lead singer), said that she thank Ev for that.... so what's the problem???

Posted by Jesus Tod Lee on Wednesday, 06.30.10 @ 21:28pm

If you think Evanescence is the first female fronted Rock band then you need to reread Rock history because you are seriously mistaken, try Blondie, Heart, the Pretenders, Eurythmics, Fleetwood Mac, ABBA, The Mamas & The Papas, or Gladys Knight & The Pips among others, also worth noting is that 5 of these are already in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

Posted by Tahvo Parvianen on Friday, 07.2.10 @ 07:31am

Make that 6, I forget about the Pretenders being inducted

Yes,they are the best band in the world, even they are not on tour.

Posted by JC on Friday, 07.16.10 @ 15:21pm

They've done nothing. They are just an example of how the teenagers of the Twenty Hundreds have ZERO TASTE and don't know anything about good music. This band has nothing to do with growing into a man or a woman, it's all about remaining a teenager, which is just a funny way of spelling "pain in the ass".

Posted by Electric Ocean on Saturday, 07.17.10 @ 16:21pm

Posted by panic on Friday, 07.23.10 @ 13:08pm

Are you people on crack?! Evanescence included with the all-time rock greats?! Seriously, there's about 100 artists that are more deserving. There's no way in hell Evanescence will be inducted. It'll never happen!
