Why wasn't Nico inducted with them?

Solo John Cale should definitely get in within the next decade. His solo career is extremely eclectic.

The Velvet Underground are one of the most recognizable bands of all time, they have less commercial success during their time but they become the band that has an impact on such genres as Punk, Glam, Alternative, Experimental, Metal & Electronic as The Beatles were to Rock & Pop. They're known for their association with artist Andy Warhol & was their manager. Every one who brought their records started bands. Their music has influenced countless artists including David Bowie, The Clash, Ramones, Talking Heads, Patti Smith, U2 & others. I can't imagine what punk rock would be like if it weren't for this band. Their music & legacy would never be replaced as modern indie bands would cited them as inspiration as many years go by. By those traits, they were considered as the most important band that's not the Beatles or Stones!

I think Sterling Morrison and Brian May (of Queen, as if you didn't already know) are the only two (performer) Rock and Roll Hall of Famers with non-honorary PhDs.

Anyone know about any more?
