SRV is one of the greats who died way to Young..only 35!And one notable différence is he died not by his own hand, after rehab that did change him-it worked, and he had tons of living and entertaining us to do!He is one of my favorite guitariste!Miss you, Stevie!

The Rock Hall inducted Freddie King and Albert King first because they want to induct Terry Kath, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Kurt Cobain next, all in the same year. You'll see! Chicago, Nirvana and Stevie Ray Vaughan will all be on the ballot next year.

I agree with sooooo many of the comments here - Stevie, along with Double Trouble (which he would have wanted) deserves to be inducted in the HOF!!! He was self-taught and passionate about his craft from a very young age. Even after he mastered the instrument, he was always in "learning mode" and never took his gift for granted Stevie was not only a world-class guitar player, but he could sing, too. Stevie loved and respected his fans, and though he struggled with alcohol and drugs for years, there was only one time that was ever late for a gig. Not only was he an amazing guitarist, he was a beautiful human being. He loved the music, he loved his band, and he loved and respected his fans. He also did whatever he could to help others overcome their demons as he had four years before he died. He's an American icon and stands head to head with the greatest players who ever lived! He deserves to be inducted!

Stevie Ray Vaughan should be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame simply because he deserves it. He's one of the greatest blues guitarist ever. :)

Albert King was officially inducted last year and since he was Stevie's mentor it only makes sense that Stevie Ray be inducted this year.

In the early 80's, Stevie put the blues back on the radio. I have been listening to him since the first time I heard Cold Shot on the radio, all my friends and I immediately wanted to know who is this cat. Stevie then went on to earn a Grammy for Couldn't Stand the Weather...sold out Carnegie Hall. He got everyone I knew talking about the blues. I had the priveledge of seeing him live twice (I still have the ticket stubs) and was truly saddened on the day of his death. Since then, many many great artists have been influenced by his sound and technique.

It is now time to induct the amazingly talented guitar god Stevie Ray Vaughan.

It's sad that such an amazing musician such as Stevie Ray is not in the HOF already.....He revived a dying art form known as the Blues and made it accessable to a new generation....I would like the HOF do the right thing and induct this legendary artist

I am surprised and shocked Stevie Ray Vaughan is not in the Hall of Fame since many years! How could he been overseen/overheard??? He was so unique, original and outstanding brilliant. Technically perfect and played with so much soul and dedication, guitar playing was his life. He even called his guitar his wife. Stevie Ray Vaughan brought the Blues to people that never listened to Blues before (me is the best example). His way to play, his tone was so special, you know it's him after the first few notes. If Stevie doesn't get his deserved place into the Hall of Fame, the whole Hall of Fame makes a joke of itself. One thing I know, there must have gone something terribly wrong. Impossible to leave him out otherwise. OR: Is it because he was an alcoholic and drug user for many years? Just wondering...

Stevie Ray Vaughan (and Double Trouble) are now by default the new Deep Purple. I still cannot believe he/they hasn't/haven't been nominated yet alone inducted. What a joke the RRHF is. Really.

I'm 15 and I love SRV and do think he deserves it. But.... he wasn't all that original. He really was kind of a Jimi Hendrix/Albert King ripoff. That is what is holding him back. But hey, ZZ Top waited this long and got inducted in 2004. However, they were original. I do think his time has come. But he isn't original which is what is holding him back

After watching the E Street band/Hall&Oats yawn feast last night, I wonder what the hell these people at the HoF are thinking. Wouldn't it be better to honor SRV's music with DT backing up The likes of Eric Clapton and/or other jam band/blues guitarists that he paved the way for? The middle of last night"s concert seemed to go about like what PBS shows when fundraising, like when they preempt the shows you tuned in to watch for a concert by a group you hadn't thought about it in years. Then, like a PBS fundraiser, they constantly cut away for speeches by people who say the same thing over and over. I guess the folks at PBS and HBO have it figured this is the kind of programming worth paying for. News flash: it fell slight slightly short of Game of Thrones. It wasn't even Nova. So again I say, put SRV and DT in the HoF. Please. If nothing else, just so we can have a concert worth watching. Just nobody tell John Mayer.

Phillip, you and Andrew both. I WANT Stevie Ray Vaughan to be inducted. But he didn't do much as far as influencing. In fact he influenced John Mayer. Who in my opinion is AWFUL. His only good song is "Waiting For The World To Change". Also he influenced Kenny Wayne Shepard. Who is HIGHLY forgetable. I find Shepard BORING. SRV's style was unique. But I heard someone say he played a lot like Albert King. Which is why I might have said "he was kind of a Jimi Hendrix/Albert King ripoff". So he did influence. But didn't influence anyone who is MEMORABLE. And that's why I think he might not get in.

The point is, if you think Vaughan didn't influence a ton of rock guitarists, and even the fact that you need to differentiate that much between rock and roll and blues (when the Hall very much does not), then you're showing your ignorance on the subject matter.

Perry. The thing that I like about her is that she can wrtie her. That's the ONLY thing I really like about her music. If it wasn't for those at times inspirational lyrics, then I wouldn't give a what about her.

1. He played instruments
2. He was a descent songwritter (not as good as Katy though)
3. He appealed to many audiences
4. He had passion for music

You just said that he influenced Pearl Jam. I agree. Pearl Jam's "Yellow Ledbetter" sounds very SRV-influenced even if some of their other stuff doesn't. You may be arguing Pearl Jam isn't memorable, but they are going in first ballot regardless. If you don't think Mike McCready is going to campaign for SRV if Pearl Jam is inducted first (as I unfortunately expect), I don't know what to tell you.

Now take a look at who Pearl Jam has influenced. For the most part, it is a large number of post-grunge bands that were popular but had next to no critical acclaim (Creed, Nickelback, Stone Temple Pilots, Candlebox, Collective Soul, etc...STP and CS are considered a little better in retrospect but still aren't critically acclaimed). I actually think Pearl Jam influenced more post-grunge bands than Nirvana did (but Nirvana had much more influence outside of grunge). The only post-grunge bands that seemed more Nirvana-influenced than Pearl Jam-influenced to me were Bush, Everclear, and Foo Fighters (and I think all those are considered better than the acts that were more Pearl Jam-influenced). However, by all accounts, they influenced much more bad than good and they're still going to be first-ballot. One could argue SRV influencing Pearl Jam is more important than any of the bands Pearl Jam themselves influenced. PJ did influence more popular acts than SRV did, but SRV probably influenced better acts in general. I think SRV should have been first ballot.

And I totally agree with Philip that SRV's blues influence definitely counts as part of the rock tradition in and of itself, especially considering rock and blues were intertwined from day one.

Not having SRV and double trouble in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame is equal to not having Babe Ruth in the Baseball Hall of Fame. SRV was self taught and brought back the blues from obscurity. If you ask anyone with any rock knowledge they will say SRV is a no brainer. Seriously you have Neil Young in there twice but no SRV???? SRV and Double trouble are Long overdue!

Happy 60th Birthday Stevie. On this day I can't help but be happy for all the great music you left us; yet incredibly sad for all the greatness you never had the time to achieve, and for all the great music that was never played. SRV needs to be nominated and inducted TODAY! He is simply one of the greatest guitarists ever. (And his singing is underrated as well). We miss you Stevie, and need you to achieve the Hall of Fame status you deserve along with Double Trouble.

Only discovered SRV 2 years ago! Keep the music alive, He is definately the Greatest of all Time. No one else like him. If you've never seen him play,treat yourself to the best and keep his talent going for future generations. I love him and his beautiful story of triumph over alchohol and drugs to a clean and sober life of humility and how he helped and loved others to overcome their addictions too.
