In 1985, 2 members of The Sisters of Mercy, Wayne Hussey and Craig Adams, left the band and formed their own band, eventually known as The Mission, in 1986, and releasing their first album,"God's Own Medicine"in Nov.of '86. I am making a case for The Mission to be included in the List of Artists, as I see they do not have a page. Although not popular enough to make the RRHOF, still with 11 albums released total, and some notable works, they should be recognized for their contributions to R&R. Also,of note, in the USA they are referred to as Mission UK, because of a previous R&B band with the same name. Thanks.

I’ve never really gotten to The Mission in the same way, to be honest, though perhaps I need to listen to them more. They should be on this site, though (I’d have to look up their impact). If you end up having no luck here, I’d try contacting the site administrators directly via the Contact Us page. You have to wait a bit to give them a chance to respond (guys be busy), but that’s always worked for me.

In addition to everything else, the Sisters were one of the major influences on what became gothic metal. Paradise Lost, Morten Veland, Tiamat, Cradle of Filth, etc. Don’t tell me that Eric Clayton of Saviour Machine’s vocals don’t sound like Andrew Eldritch’s on First and Last and Always. Paradise Lost’s classic album Draconian Times was described as a mix between the Sisters of Mercy and Metallica, and they were a major influence on them and the scene they came from long before.

Heh, I guess The Mission has also been a major influence on Morten Veland. That’s a start.

Thanks, Ray. You have provided a lot of great info there, and gave me some leads to pursue further, especially the Paradise Lost album, I have not heard. As far as the Sisters of Mercy and The Mission connection, The Mission no way compares to the impact the Sisters of Mercy had, but similar to a lesser degree, yes. Still, they deserve a recognition in representing that era and genre of music. I will take your suggestion to contact the moderators, as there are quite a few bands not represented notably UK bands, classic punk, new wave, etc.. Will be posting for U.K. Subs next..
