IGNITION - that's all I gotta say. That album alone should get them in.

"Should have had "Gone Away" listed as an "Essential Song"."

The songs listed as "Essential Songs" have been voted into the Song Project on the messageboards on this site. Same deal with the "Essential Albums" and the Album Project messageboard.

Highest selling independent label album of all-time with over 14 million copies sold of their 1994 album Smash. If that alone isn't worthy of being inducted, I don't know what is.

Generic and repetitive, nope.

I don't think so. They are popular and Smash was good, but let's wait at leat 10 years to relise their real impact.

No doubt in my mind that they deserve it. Best punk rock band with old Green Day and they inspired Blink-182.

"Innovation: Green Day and others came before. 0%"

This is false. Green Day did not come before The Offspring.

Why aren't the in they are like the best ban I've ever heard.

if green day is in the hall then so should the offspring in all honesty. They are one of the best independent bands of all time.

Why does everyone think green day came first?? Offspring came first formed 2 years before (1984) and released first album one year before (1989). Both of them became famous in 1994 but offspring did it without a major label.

They are also one of the most original punk bands out there with a very unique signature sound, only some songs by sum41, rise against and autopilot off really come close to it while every punk band since blink sounds like green day

To me they should be in first ballot. There aren't many bands out there that I have at least 6 very good albums (ignition, smash, ixnay, Americana, conspiracy and rise and fall) with the other 3 being weaker but still having several good songs

Thinking about adding The Offspring to my 2017-2018 nominations list. Gone Away is such a powerful song and they just have a signature sound. Remember I was 19 I think when The Offspring and Come Out And Play exploded onto the scene. Dexter Holland has a powerful voice. I wonder if he could break a pane of glass or knock down a cardboard box house singing. Green Day & The Offspring were on a similar track but American Idiot vaulted Green Day ahead. I believe The Offspring will be nominated and inducted in the next 5-10 years. KING

Well, I finally saw these guys at a rainy Rock on the Range in Columbus, OH. Have to thank the gods that they got their set off as alot of acts didn't that weekend (Korn followed them & only got to play 1/2 hour).

They didn't play all their hits, cause they only had an hour. Not much chitchat as they tore thru a good number of them. Dexter sounded great. To me the only band that weekend that could have followed an awesome Papa Roach set.

Why aren't they in The Hall? They sure need to be.

The Offspring should absolutely be in the HOF. Go see a show. You'll be amazed how many songs they play that were hits. It was watching them live that moved them to my number 1 favorite band. I likened it to seeing Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. An entire show of songs I'd forgotten about but love. The criticism of some of their newer music is unfair. I admit some songs had to grow on me, but the band wasn't playing the Smash album rearranged. They tried different sounds. For people to say the new stuff sucks I have to wonder if they heard Kristy are you doing ok? To me they are a band that has stood the test of time, have grown as artists and people, and still work hard for their fans putting on great shows.

I think this will be the year The Offspring will receive their first nomination. It might be the best band I've heard as well as the Black Crowes and Counting Crows. Dexter is a Grade A singer and the band can rock the house. They deserve more support. Incredible band.

The greatest of the 'pop-punk' bands, IMO.

Maybe not quite as 'influential' as Green Day, but with more & better songs.

@ King

Other than Green Day, the Offspring was the first band that got me into punk. As much I love those guys, there is no way they’ll get nominated this year for the ballot; the HOF is trying to catch up with the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s much as they could, putting the 90’s on the hold with the exception of the most universal names. That’s why Nirvana, GD, and Pearl Jam were lucky to get inducted their first. But I am expecting Rage Against the Machine to be part of the 2020 class, cause they’re gonna let Zack and Tom take some shots at Trump for the next presidential campaign.

Cool band!

The Offspring are probably one of the most important acts in the history of pop punk. If record sales are a factor, then their 3rd record, Smash, definitely shows their impact. Smash is the best-selling record on an independent label, an extremely important milestone.

This band broke through barriers with having a great flow and can talk about shit that happens in real life when you walk through life. They are the OG of late 90s rock and early 2000s. They just did the nerd stuff they did and always made the billboard. Yes the older they got wasn't the same but that goes for most of the bands in the game. They were the peak. When you here 5 seconds into their songs you knows it's a songs to make you feel good

The Offspring deserves to be considered for nomination. In my perhaps bias opinion they deserve to be in the hall of fame just as much as Green Day, perhaps the most comparable band.

As an additional note to the author of this website, it would be preferable to have dates in an unambiguous format, and times (although arguably irrelevant) in a format that makes sense.
Take this date and timestamp for example: Monday, 11.12.07 @ 20:01pm
Is this December 11th 2007, November 12th 2007, December 7th 2011 and so on.
There is no such time as 20:01pm, it would be 8:01pm or just 20:01.

Most successful independent album anyone? I think that should really mean something considering how long it's held that title (unless it's been overshadowed by now). I think they're a pretty good band, and Dexter Holland for sure has a very unique tone

As a teenager right now, green day was my first favorite band along with offspring and nirvana. The offspring has such unique and amazing songs in all of their albums, how are the not in the HOF?? Get em in there!!!
