One of my recent musical discoveries is this unique New Orleans pianist who fused boogie woogie jazz, Afro-Cuban rhythms, and Louisiana blues into an irresistible package. Professor Longhair possessed stellar piano-playing skills and a hoarse, but refined voice. Along with Louis Armstrong, Jelly Roll Morton, Dr. John, and Fats Domino, he is among the greatest exponents of New Orleans-originated music. There's a sense of fun in 'Fess's music, and I'm glad he was inducted as an Early Influence.
