Oingo Boingo was absolutely one of the most talented bands ever. Those who do not agree, just simply didn't get it. Besides look at some of the bands and performers in there. Your telling me that Boingo doesn't deserve induction.

Oingo Boingo had a few of the most iconic songs from the 80s. They should be in... Much better than Steely "pure crap" Dan...

I love Oingo Boingo. They did a couple of my favorite songs. Incredibly tight group with a great sound. Everything meshes right where it needs too, and it sounds great. However, I don't believe they will get in the rock hall. Especially after those idiots in Philly opened it up to rap (Tupac). I will put yes though, because they more than deserve this along with King Crimson, Jethro Tull, and Emerson Lake and Palmer.

ThatOnePyroNoob,

I do not know if you had been aware that Yes had been inducted in 2017 by two members of Rush (Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson). (Rush, Yes and The Moody Blues) - i.e. the "holy trinity of prog" have previously been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. If the Rock Hall decides (in their infinite wisdom) to induct more "prog" acts then: Duran Duran, Jethro Tull, King Crimson, Supertramp and Kansas, possibly Styx and Procol Harum are still possibilities. However, Jann Wenner, our advocate for "prog" is stepping down in January of next year and the new chairman- John Sykes had helped to create MTV. So, Duran Duran seems to be the most probable "prog" act to next enter the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame.

Well, what do you think?

The only noteworthy thing about this band is that a respected film composer was a member.

I could see this as a possible ELO/Dire Straits/Roxy Music type nominee in that it gets a well respected figure in the hall, but a film composer should be far down on the list.

No.

There is no question in my mind that Oingo Boingo should be inducted in the R&R HOF. I saw them live three times, and they are the best live performance Band I have ever seen, and I have seen a lot live performances of other Bands. There are very few Bands that can Match Oingo Boingo's musical prowess, musical tightness, unique sound, creativity, inventiveness and intelligence. No one comes close to matching their unique montage of musical styles and no one ever will. Case closed.

I think the essentials list needs to be expanded; the way it looks now, it gives the impression the site doesn't really care one way or the other if they get inducted.

Dark At The End Of The Tunnel(1990)

Danny Elfman just won Coachella with a mix of Oingo Boingo hits, The Simpsons theme, songs from A Nightmare Before Christmas, and the Batman score. His influence is pretty vast ("we can live like Jack and Sally" anyone? That soundtrack alone is engraved into our culture) and his catalog as a composer is iconic. Give the guy the Award for Musical Excellence. He's an ideal candidate.

Ongoing Boingo won the Gong Show.! Why not let them in. Just because they have a weird name,? I believe the RRHOF is about the music. Private life little girls and of course Goodbye Goodbye.

As far as I can tell, Rolling Stone never published a single article about Oingo Boingo. Never reviewed a single one of their albums. Jann Wenner was notorious about promoting "his friends" and ignoring his perceived enemies, I always assumed some personal animus on his part towards Danny Elfman or the band. I often wondered if the song "Imposter" was aimed at Wenner. It's pretty scathing and seems eerily apt.

Oingo Boingo is one of my favorite bands and I was genuinely surprised when I learned they weren't in the hall of fame yet. I hope they get inducted, their music is truly under appreciated and I feel they deserve induction just as much as Duran Duran or King Crimson.

Oingo Boingo Needs to be in the RRHOF. This group was the soundtrack to growing up in SoCal in the 80s & 90s. The Best Live group ever! Just listen to the Alive album. The Horns are tight the riffs are sharp and the percussion is awesome.
