Not sure if these guys are the first “Blackgaze” band, but they’re a breath of fresh air.

@The Dude: Nah, Alcest (a major influence on Deafheaven) were the first to start the scene, though at worst Deafheaven have gone some ways to popularize the scene and show that it has legs.

Incidentally, I can't speak for Deafheaven, but Alcest are great live.
