Cyndi Lauper made some Classic songs. Time After Time is my favorite in her catalogue of hits. Think she falls short of induction as of 2014. I can't put in Cyndi Lauper over Def Leppard,Duran Duran,Scorpions,Bon Jovi,Chicago,Pat Benatar, and several other worthy artists waiting induction. KING

Cyndi will definitely make it into the rock and roll hall of fame.

At this point in her career Cyndi has already earned an Emmy, a Grammy, and a Tony. It's only a matter of time until she has her Oscar. Damn right she should be in the HOF!!!

OF COURSE!!!!!!!

Yes, Cyndi does belong in the RRHOF. Many different reasons for that, but unfortunately she's in a long line of female singer/songwriters/solo performers that are waiting to get in.

Cyndi has been my girl since I first heard "Girls Just Want To Have Fun" on the radio which was so vibrant at that time on the airwaves.

Cyndi is the total package as someone who is very DIY. She was a great songwriter and picked great material. When songs were a little bit sexist, she would change lyrics to portray her point of view (and also making her eligible for those royalty credits).

Besides writing, she took a hand in her wardrobe (bringing that punk/DIY look to the mainstream), designing the album covers (the painted shoes of the back of "She's So Unusual" was her work, helping mold her music videos including learning to edit. With David Wolf, they got together with Captain Lou and later Vince to create Rock N Wrestling which helped them get free publicity for her record which started slowly and became a hit because of that connection (kind of like early social media in an era before Twitter, etc)

She might have been her own worse enemy with the record company but she stuck to her guns and kept her image that she worked hard for without relying on the sex angle so many female singers do or get forced into.

With her early videos, she incorporated great videos while relying on friends and family. She made it cool for young girls to love their mothers, dress how they feel and stand up for themselves. One thing Cyndi fought for in the "Girls" video was to have girls of different body types and ethnicities so any girl watching would see themselves. With todays TV climate, she was way far ahead on that.

Her resume keeps getting stronger getting acclaim for her dance and blues albums, being the first solo women to win a Tony for best score and her recent Songwriting Hall Of Fame induction which in my opinion is the more meaningful Hall to be in.

She continues to march at the beat of her own drum, put out the music she wants in all it's beautiful diversity and putting on some of the best shows I have seen. Watching her climb speakers and dance in the crowd climbing over chairs is a lot of fun.

Does she rock, check out "Above The Clouds" with Jeff Beck or her duet with Scott Weiland on "Barbarella".

She should make it in given time.

No record sales. A million years dead or not in the spotlight. So what you giys are gonna wait til she's so longer with us😡. She deserves to be in tje hall of fame now. Not just the songwriters hall of fame.....

Why should she go in before Melanie?

All she did was follow record company orders to copy Melanie and she did like a good little corporate bot.

Melanie created and went up against the record company - that thief is in and she isn't.

It's crazy that the queen of pop rock in the 80s is not in the Hall

Posted by Nick on Thursday, 01/14/2021 @ 10:21am

I think Cyndi can't be too far away now, Nick. Cyndi always seemed to be the #4 of the Big 4 of 80s female pop singers, but now that Madonna, Janet, & Whitney are all in, Cyndi should be next, especially with Peresman now in charge. Then again, knowing the hall, I'd never hold my breath.

Steve Z,
I didn't write that previous comment. I think someone recently joined FRL and uses the name Nick too. I've seen this person comment on a few artists' pages over the last few days. Probably a coincidence. I, of course, support Lauper for the Hall as I wrote my site a while back.

Ah, A-ok Nick B. The same thing happened to me on this site way back when. I used to only go by Steve, but then someone else started coming here just by that name, so I had to switch. Definitely agree that Cyndi deserves to be in the hall, hopefully sooner rather than later. I saw her perform a "mini concert" about two years ago at a work event. She got up on the tables and was dancing away and singing her classics. She's still got it, and it'd be great to see her perform at the ceremony when the time comes.

To me, Ms. Lauper is a 'close, but no cigar' category of artist.

I think that once Pat Benatar and The Go-Go's eventually get inducted, hopefully sooner than later, that would open the gate for Cyndi Lauper would be next girl up for nomination and possible induction. Besides having the popular pop element on her side, she was also very punky, and was quite a bit Rock and Roll as well. I have no problem with her getting inducted , and would support and welcome it, I just feel there are 2 or 3 female bands/artists that should no doubt get the honor before her..

I don't think she is that deserving to be honest with you, but that is just my opinion. Seen as more of a fifth level act for priority.

2021 and Cyndi isn't in the Rock and Roll HOF yet....what is going on ? She was admissible 10years ago!

I'll keep it short - her works have been covered by THOUSANDS. She has also evolved as an artist and had #1s on different charts like the blues, dance, and Broadway charts. She has performed for millions and become an American Icon, widely recognized and heralded for her works and work for others. She more than deserves to be in the R&R HOF.

This is a no-brainer. Cyndi Lauper absolutely belongs. No doubt about it.

This is a no brainer! Cyndi deserves this honor. She helped form the music style of the 80's. When you think of that decade of music you can't not think of Cyndi. She is way over due being inducted.

Okay. You have convinced me. I'm a big fan of Cyndi Lauper, seen her twice or three times in concert (at really cheap prices!) and love her music, but I didn't think she should be in the RRHOF. But y'all have convinced me, especially with the Go-Go's and Pat Benatar already making it in.

Yes, of course Cyndi belongs in the RRHOF. Other women who deserve but haven't been inducted include Janis Ian, Cher, Bette Midler, Olivia Newton John, Fanny, Helen Reddy, The Pointer Sisters, The Runaways, Joan Armatrading, Dionne Warwick, Barbra Streisand, The B-52s, The Bangles, Diana Ross, Chic, Sheryl Crow, Hole, and Rufus and Chaka Khan.
