19 comments so far (post your own)The three obvious picks, as of NOW, are the Arctic Monkeys, Kaiser Chiefs and Bloc Party. If those three can continue with strong albums, then I think they'll all have gathered enough followers. The Magic Numbers certainly strike me as a band with alot of talent, but there current lack of US success might deny them induction. There's also Maximo Park, who haven't innovated alot, but could gather some followers if they keep at it.

I think this is totally embarassing, Panic! at the disco? jesus christ. I mean look at all these "bands" most of them don't know shit about music.

I don't really care enough about any of these bands to reply under normal circumstances, but I felt I had to after reading Dillon Casey's reply...
Carrie Underwood: And how does being a future Dolly Parton qualify you for the rock and roll hall of fame?
Paramore: OK, they're a guilty pleasure of mine. But unless they suddenly release the next Exile in Guyville (except with a band), I'm not seeing any hall hopes...
James Blunt: Rock and Roll Hall of Fame...ROCK AND ROLL
PCD: You've got to be f*****g kidding me.
Daughtry: Resembling Nickelback and Bon Jovi isn't exactly a good thing, but I dunno what he'll do in 25 years...

This list is almost as bad as 2031's

Yeah, Arctic Monkeys (and to a lesser extent, Kaiser Chiefs, Bloc Party and an increasingly lesser chance, Silversun Pickups) have a possible chance to get in. Maybe.

He doesn't resemble either band, though Bon Jovi is closest.

It's now 2030, and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is facing pressure from N.A.S.A. You see, apparently in 2026, we had a breakthrough w/beings from outer space. Two invading armies were about to blow up the planet when someone beamed a transmission of the James Blunt song "You're Beautiful" at them. One group was sent away screaming, while the other one immediately fell in love w/it. Mushy Aliens. Anyway, the Space agency is pushing for Blunt to make the Hall, but the voters are not quite sure. The Hall likes the stars to be there in person, and since Blunt is now about 382 quadrillion miles away in another star system, they fear he might not be able to attend.
Let's move on...

I think Bloc Party and Paramore are obvious choices in this list with all theyve added to rock and roll.
If MGMT and Silversun Pickups keep putting out hits like "Kids"(MGMT) and "Panic Switch"(SSPU), they can become obvious choices as well by then.
Major longshot, but possible: The Kooks (come on, you gotta give them theyre props.)

Paramore, Panic at the Disco will get in.
Artic Monkeys and Carrie Underwood maybe.

Arctic Monkeys is a good Garage Rock band but dosen't seem to be living up the the greatness of the early songs.
Editors is an unlikely choice and so is Kaiser Cheifs.
Kasabian is pretty innovative, i haevn't really heard the sort of Techno rock blending before.
James Blunt... no.
MGMT is probably a bit too ... strange for the rrhof. Hard to clasify and not the sort of music the hall likes.
Paramore is a band i certainly hope dont make it in.

Locks: Nobody
We got off on the right path to being a lock, but are now miles from it for popularity reasons: Arctic Monkeys
Commercial darlings, critical duds, may have a legitimate shot when all's said and done: Carrie Underwood, James Blunt
Maybe if I can rebuild my popularity and keep it going: Chris Brown
Critics dig us, so if we can just gain Stateside success: Bloc Party, Kaiser Chiefs, Arctic Monkeys
It's interesting to speculate on this right now, but no point in doing so seriously for another 7-10 years

No locks, but MGMT and Paramore have gotten a good start.

If they continue on the same path, the only lock on this list is Carrie Underwood, a couple possibilities, but only one lock

MGMT
Artic Monkeys
Deerhunter & Deadmau5 could

To the best of my knowledge, there's only one great artist who began recording in 2010, and he doesn't even have a page on FRL? Who is this magnificent person, you might ask? Why, it's JD McPherson!
His first album was released by Hi-Style Records, but has since received a major-label release from Rounder Records this past April. His style is heavily influenced by all the rockabilly/rhythm & blues greats (i.e., Buddy Holly, Little Richard, Ruth Brown, Fats Domino, Jerry Lee Lewis, etc.). But don't mistake him for a mere cover act. All of his material on his first album is completely original.
It gives me great pleasure to know that there are some new artists who have an appreciation for the roots of rock 'n roll and are keeping the torch burning for great music. I can't recommend him enough.

Whoops, I meant to post the preceding comment in the 2035 folder. I'll just copy it over there.
