Nary a lock in sight. Best cases to present:
BRMC / Gorillaz / Strokes
Snooze Alarm award: Jack Johnson (still, he might just make it)
The Polyphonic Spree & Broken Social Scene will get in only if they measure the Hall for size.
Finally, Mastodon will have an exhibit set up for them that proudly acknowledges them as the first band to successfully imitate the animal they named themselves after, to a tee.

The Strokes should have no doubt about getting in, and also Mastodon, maybe the best metal band in the 00's

As I Lay Dying, all that I could think of was that I had been Avenged Sevenfold. Further Seemed Forever away as I watched the Explosions In The Sky. I had destroyed the Black Rebel Motorcycle Club that had threatened the Broken Social Scene of my existence. Alas, as I lay in a puddle of Municipal Waste, all I could ponder were insignificant things, such the rise of British Sea Power or the secret to the Black Dahlia Murder. Was this the way my life would end?
As I listened closely, I heard the echoing sounds of the Polyphonic Spree. Soon, I too would become a Starsailor amongst the clouds...

But only once The Blow hit you that you would live after all. Yes, The Brand New Clinic rescued you from the fate of Drowning Pool. All you wanted was a Yellowcard to prove your survival, but the Drowning Pool that had become a Puddle of Mudd was now after you again! Little did you know that your destiny was written in the Stars and as you aimlessly wandered The Streets, you realized to your horror that of all places, you were stuck in the Canadian Province of Manitoba

Gorillaz, The Strokes will.
T.I should and could.
And I pray for Rise Against but I doubt they will.

Another "meh" year. Mastodon are one of the best bands of the 2000's but I doubt they'll even be nominated. It wouldn't bother me if Gorillaz but they'll have to regain their earlier Stateside momentum, and it would be very irritating if they got in and Blur didn't. The careers of Drowning Pool and Puddle of Mudd haven't amounted to anything, or so I'm told. The Strokes have a good chance, so that's something. Alicia Keyes is the commercial leader here, but she's basically elevator music. Jack Johnson: See Keyes, but without the long-term success. Same with Norah Jones. There are a few indie darlings here but I'm not sure how much impact any of them have made.
Good chance, depending on what they do from here on out:
-Alicia Keyes
-The Strokes
-Gorillaz
Possibly:
-Jack Johnson
-Norah Jones
Locks: None
I want to be daring, but no chance: Mastodon

Out of these I believe The Strokes and the Gorillaz are the only real contenders, though ALicia Keys has a chance.

Katy Perry belongs in this group as her first album recording is as Katy Hudson before she became Perry.
