Yea that's what I was saying with regards to hall loyalists (your Bono's, little Stevens, your Chuck D's, your Dave Grohls) maybe being in dmb's camp with their 7th votes.

The hall is doing great with Disney but the live show is where they make their money (dmb is a draw) and the fan vote, which was made to engage fans, could lose all clout if dmb wins it again and doesn't get in

Unfortunately that's another hurdle for Sinead

She's going against Lenny Kravitz,Oasis,Dave Matthews Band and Jane's Addiction in that front

Hopefully I am wrong but that is just the way it is

Would the casual Rock Hall fan want to see a Sinead induction or something like a Kravitz,Dave Matthews or Oasis induction?

After the lackluster ticket sales from last ceremony that want to get the people back

I mean, Sinéad could still sneak in as a representation for this year's alternative rock field. People sometimes forget that Sinéad made history as the first female artist and first artist overall to win the very first Grammy award for best alternative music album for I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got because they only remember the "Sinéad refusing the Grammy" part of the story.

Additionally, there could be a scenario where Mary J could surprisingly sneak in as the face of R&B and hip-hop instead of EB&R and Tribe (she's dubbed as the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul for a reason). Mariah would be the George Michael in the class because she's the huge pop star, while Cher will be the Willie Nelson in the class as the elderly pop diva.

  New prediction:
Cher

Kool and the Gang
Ozzy
Peter Frampton
A Tribe Called Quest
Sinead O'Connor
Oasis (if 8)
Lenny Kravitz (if 9)

----
Only thing that's changed here is the Tribe and Frampton inclusions. This is gonna be a mostly 1960s-1970s class with Tribe and Sinead being the only reminders of the '80s and '90s acts.

This list actually looks closest to what happened the last time Dave Matthews Band got a nod: they got outvoted by two 1970s bands, a talented rap act and a posthumous music legend and the same could happen this year.

Why I suddenly changed on Lenny: despite his connections, I don't know how serious people took his nod, plus there's Frampton and I can't see people passing him up despite my initial objections.

If you're a 1990s act in general, it's just not a good year. Mariah won't get in because she seems to care even less about her nod than Cher. Not a good time also if you're Mary J. or Dave Matthews or Oasis.

Also not good if you're an R&B act. Kool and the Gang seems to be the designated R&B inductee. If they induct a second R&B act, it'll likely be Lenny though he's more of a rocker obviously. Mary J. has support but it's not enough for this year.

If anything, the one act I had difficulty wondering if she was gonna get in or not was Mariah. Cher seems to take her spot as the designated pop diva/legend inductee this year. Ozzy will be in the Willie Nelson position. So where does that leave Mariah? In a no man's land. If it's not the pop diva box she's gotta tend with, it's the R&B box and votes will be split between her, Mary and Sade in the same way votes were split up between Janet, Chaka and Joe Tex back in 2017. And then the hip-hop box. I bet many go hard for Tribe this year than any hip-hop or hip-hop influenced act.

And for the first time since 2020, there will be less than three female inductees. I seriously think they'll just induct two women this time around which is still better than one and definitely better than none.

Lenny still could get in if they allow nine inductees but I have a feeling if they go to 8, Oasis is in there.

----
Again, this was not an easy list to predict and I still can't believe we're still two days away from the actual induction yet it still feel like two weeks lol

My picks for artists and notable in the other categories are mostly the same though:

Musical Excellence:
Devo
Eric B. and Rakim
The Sweet Inspirations
Dionne Warwick

Early/musical influence
Roy Brown
MC5
Mary Wells
Marvelettes
Big Mama Thornton

Ahmet Ertegun:
Ashford & Simpson
Ed Sullivan

----
Before you ask, no it's not because I have an obsession with being right, it's just my thought process. I admit I could be dead wrong here with a lot of these picks. We'll find out what voters eventually picked at the end. I also feel this is gonna keep changing until Sunday lmao

Mary J (if 9)

AME: Gram Parsons, Jim Keltner, Wailers (potential for more backing bands like wings mothers and belmonts)

Maybe Frampton David Lindley

EI: MC5, Big Mama Thornton, Procul Harum

Ahmet: Whitfield/Strong, Wolfman Jack, Ed Sullivan

Maybe Walter Yetnikoff, Dr Dre

I get 3 points for each correct lock, and 2 points for each correct maybe, in any category

  KING,

IMO both Sammy and Dave are appropriately covered by the van halen induction. for my view, a solo acts has gotta transcend their work with a band/s. Lee Roth and Hagar are awesome solo but neither go beyond VH.

the 3 Beatles (Ringo was AME), Rod Stewart, Lou Reed, Peter Gabriel, all absolutely transcend Faces/Velvets/Genesis/Beatles, hence are all double inductees.

previous nominee, Sting does not transcend the police imo but he's pretty borderline, a warranted nomination that may occur at some point.

Winwood was a journey man like Rod, I'm glad he went in with Traffic cause his solo career is not as wide ranging to get a hall induction just off that

Robert Plant is a fantastic example of someone who's solo career DOES NOT transcend his prior band, and would be a foolish double inductee, will never be nominated on his own.

Stevie Nicks solo is like Sting, borderline but I have zero issue with her solo induction like I've seen some other people do
