How is Yanni even relitively CLOSE to Rock & Roll? Does the man have a rockin' bone in his body?

Yanni's music is farther away from Rock & Roll than George W is to reality, and that is saying something.

yanni is the epitome of all things RAWWWK. what a punk. i heard david bowie wanted to produce yanni, once upon a time... IN BERLIN.

yanni said no, bitch, i'm gonna make it on my own. AND HE DID. GO YANNI.
so bowie picked up some loser called iggy pop.
they made some lame rekkerds, like the idiot and lust for life...
while yanni went on to better things.
such as live at the acropolis.
and yanni's greatest hits.

Caught the Yanni inference here, and I have an awesome, truly kick-a** story I can tell about Yanni:

I was onced teamed up in a college class with a gentleman named Odysseus on a project. We met one afternoon to discuss how we would approach it, and he suggested we get a bite to eat. He drove to a restaurant in a primarily Greek part of Philadelphia, and I couldn't help but notice just how many pictures of Yanni there were around the place. There were literally nothing else on the walls except Yanni pictures. After we finished eating and left, Odysseus informed me that the man who owned the restaurant was related to Yanni (I think he was a second cousin or something). This was around 1993 and Yanni was all over the place as a New Age artist, or whatever they were calling him, and everyone was pretty much swearing he would be the artist of the decade or something.

I will say this - while Yanni never quite got there, if he carries the same gene pool he could easily go into business as a cook. The food was great (pity I didn't pay much attention to where we were - I'd like to go back there one day).

As a matter of fact, I am going to give Yanni a yes vote here, if only to honor the culinary aspects of his family tree.
