She is never, ever, ever getting inducted.

Like ever.

My question is just what impact has she made on music these days?

Female artists confessing thier feelings is nothing new in rock n' roll as singers like Joan Baez and Joni Mitchell told us thier feelings in songs like "Diamonds & Rust" and "Blue", but these artists also sang about other subjects too.

The problem with Miss Swift is that's all she doses in her songs is sing about her ex-boyfriends. Her music is more for teenage girls then anyone else.

The music she is doing is nothing groundbreaking or new as we've heard it all before, so I just don't get why so meny are parising her as a great singer/songwriter.

Also, her guitar playing isn't anything amazing and the fact that she acts like a 16 year old trapped in a 22 year old's body.

All in all, I would vote no for Taylor Swift if the Hall chose to nominate her unless she starts going down a differant musical diection.

So sense most of the posts on here are from a good deal of time in the past, I'd just like to point out that despite the fact of her earlier songs repetitive nature, she has now flowered into someone who has been singing songs that instill a sense of feminism in today's society. She's not all about break-ups and everything that she was once known for, she sings of being a strong independent woman. I believe she will definitely get in, not initially most likely, but because she has had both commercial and universal success, which is why we are even considering her.

Posted by Colin on Wednesday, 01/28/2015 @ 20:47pm

I have to disagree with your comment, Colin, because Taylor hasn't grown up at all in my opinion. She still acts very childish in her songs. "Shake It Off" is a good example of this. It's just Miss Swift telling everyone who hates her that she doesn't care. Sorry, Taylor, but we all need to be able to take criticism in life, even you. The music she's doing is nothing groundbreaking or new as we've heard woman artists whine and moan about their relationships or tell people off, so I personally don't think that she's grown up one bit.

Will she get inducted? Could happen, but I don't know. She'll have to write more adult music if she's going to win my vote.

I agree here. I own her album Speak Now and the singles are great. But I will have to say no to this. Who knows? She could surprise us.

Posted by Josephine on Sunday, 06/26/2016 @ 03:34am

I definitely feel like she will eventually become a Joni Mitchell for her generation. She has proven longevity and has the songwriting talent (the songs she wrote on Speak Now and Red are proof enough). After her pop domination is over with, I feel she will unleash her truest potential.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame isn't just for rock artist you know... people are getting mad at eligible artist that aren't rock musicians but the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame isn't just for rock artist.

Posted by Tyler on Friday, 02/17/2017 @ 10:23am

Taylor's music maybe terrible, but she will get in her first year once she becomes eligible in future due to her massive commercial success. She's way too big and universal to be ignore.

Dude, that's what they said about Mariah Carey.

@ Follower

Mariah will get in eventually after Janet and Whitney, so I’m expecting the Hall to induct those female figures in the next few years.

She stole music from the Lostprophets (I Knew You Were Trouble) and Ian Watkins (Bad Blood).

She will get in. Forbes named her best earning female celeb of the decade. She sold 50 Million albums, 150 Million digital songs, 10 Million concert tickets (for 1 Billion $) and her music was streamed 55 Billion times so far. Billboard lists her as the top artist of the 21st century, named her their woman of the decade. The American Music Awards named her artist of the decade, she is the most awarded artist in the history of this show. The Grammys gave her 10 awards and 2 AOTY Grammys. The BMI awards gave her an award named after her. Rolling Stone magazine placed her on their 100 greatest songwriters of all-time list. IFPI named her the best selling artist in the world 2014 and 2019. The RIAA lists Taylor as the top selling female album artist of the current century, she owns 2 diamond albums and a diamond single. TIME magazine printed her face 3 times in their cover, more than any other female artist ever. The VMA's gave her VOTY twice. She won numerous country music awards. Fearless is officially the most awarded country record of all-time. She is an Emmy award winner and a Brit award winner, with 3 Golden Globe noms.

Now add her letter to Apple, the feud with Spotify and her clause in her record deal with UMG that other artists earn more from streaming. She supports the LGBTQ community with her music and donates profits of several songs to many charities.

Think of all the people young and old in the music business she is connected too. Given that she will contribute more to music and the industry in the 2020s and receiving more honors, i am pretty sure Taylor has the support needed to be inducted into the HOF in the 2030s.

She will be a first ballot inductee and I can't stand her. She cannot sing (just look up her duet with Stevie Nicks from the Grammys a few years back - Stevie did everything but drag her around the stage by the hair), her songwriting is simplistic and I don't believe her to be a virtuoso on any instrument she might play. But I also recognize when the evidence is against everything that my eyes see.

She just knocked off Whitney Houston (2020 Inductee) as the woman who has had the most weeks at #1 on the Billboard 200, she will probably sell upwards of 100 million records by the time she's eligible (that's not even looking at the streaming numbers), worldwide touring success, success across two genres (country and pop) and she has inspired a host of young women with her songwriting, musicianship and her performances. Winner of 18 Grammys, nominated 37 times. Those are credentials that, whether you like her or not, get you in the Rock Hall.

She'll be inducted. She MUST. Of this, I've no doubt.

She has 8 album span across 3 different genres..Country / Pop / Indie-Folk..of which 7 albums has ruled the charts. She has dominates country music & pop world eversince 2008/ or 2009..

She's a brilliant songwriter where she can present any of her song in any genre. For example, she present WANEGT in rock solid performance during her 1989 world tour..not to mention other countless performances of her other songs..changing genres at her will & yet, still sounds very2 good & catchy.

Some of her lyrics may seem simple..but most of her songs can be interpreted in few different ways..which is WHY her 100 million++ fans can CONNECT / resonates which her songs.

She doesn't have the greatest voice..but hers' fits beautifully with her songs. I love Mariah carey, Adele, Celine Dion & other singer with great voices..but I can't sing most of their songs in nice vocal. But I can sing any of Taylor's songs..as most of her fans could. Lots of her songs is catchy, simple but yet beautiful, resonates with her fans & 'sing along friendly'.

She's not a great guitarist or great music player, but she's a GREAT2 performer..& can hold her own when it's just her & her guitar / piano..without ANY backups. She's proven this countless times during her so many concerts & live performances..even during award shows ('Ours' CMA 2011). Not many artist ever do that in live audience...especially in award shows or in very large audiences. She's done this to a 50k..60k..70k crowds during her concerts countless times.

I'm not going to repeat bout her countless awards, achievements & numerous records she's broken..already mention in details by Toby & others.

I was born in 1969 & I'm a solid Rock & Metal fan. But I'm also a music fan & music lovers regardless of any genres. Music & artist I love, follows & listen to, mostly from last century's + early 2000's. But I do follow Taylor Swift coz I really2 think she plays Great music's, songs & lyrics.

I think she's the greatest performer I've ever seen in my life. & I've been to many live concerts / performances of numerous Top of the List artist in my lifetime, including the great MJ.

Whether u like it or not, she has change the music industry. & as some music critics has refers her numerous times, I really2 think, Taylor Swift is the music industry. & for that, she will be & MUST be inducted.

I agree that Taylor's induction will no doubt be Swift.

Posted by joker on Sunday, 10/18/2020 @ 13:40pm

Taylor will be a first ballot hall of famer and I have little doubt in my mind that this will be the case. She's one of the most successful artists of all time both commercially and critically. Has conquered country, pop, and indie folk so far. She may not have the greatest technical skill vocally or instrumentally, but she's a great songwriter (excluding "Me"), and has an undeniable influences on millions of fans of all backgrounds and ages. While she maybe the pinnacle of mainstream success, she has always stuck up for smaller artists as the world has transitioned to streaming, and defied expectations time and time again through constant reinvention, and challenging industry norms. Sustained success for 14 years and counting and that's as good of a rock hall case as there is.

Posted by Erik on Thursday, 05/13/2021 @ 15:02pm

Pop trash. That this "artist" is considered some kind of great in the 2020s shows just how far music has fallen. The Backstreet Boys sold 100 million records during my childhood, but they were correctly disregarded by critics as calculated, lightweight tosh. I see no difference between their garbage and Swift's.

:Pure rock music is no longer front-and-center the way it was in the past century. Today, it's largely soft rock ballads, Latino. and hip-hop. For this reason RockHall will need to widen its perspective. In fact, it has already done so with Whitney's induction. If Whitney gets in, Taylor gets in. Simple as that. Even without the gifted voice, Taylor is a megastar, and we all know it.

Also, it's interesting to look over all the comments chronologically that have been placed at this site. They were mostly negative ten years ago, but gradually people have come around...not surprisingly.

From an 83-year-old Taylor fan.

I am not here to pretend like a music geek or whatever . I saw some of the people here are saying her songwriting or lyrics are simple and she just write songs about her exes. Just because they are love songs doesn't mean they are cliche and mediocre. She writes love songs in a way that you can clearly paint a vivid picture in ur head while listening and perfectly deliever the emotion she's conveying. She has done songs about fame, innocent childhoo d,mental health problems, sexisim, politics, cancle culture and complex scenarios and feelings that goes into loving someone and even murder story. Her lyrics are clever , witty , and she has the ability to sum up what it's like to be in certain situations just in few words. But that doesn't take out she cant write complex lyrics (metaphorically) .she has already done that in early days but Lastest two albums folklore and evermore are prime examples that proves she can do everything if she wanted to . Some say she can't sing but she can sing well . She might not be the greatest vocalist but the way she sings and deliver the emotion while she's performing is truly great . She's the best when she performs acoustic just her and her guiter. I am not gonna repeat her worldwide success and accolades . She has inspired lots of new artists to write their own music and i saw articles about how Taylor influenced young ladies or anyone who's interested in music to pick up guiter and write own songs. She has fought for artists rights and always been supportive of new generation of artists. I know lots of people like to underestimate her telent because of how big and popular she is . Even her most poppy songs have a storyline and clever lyricism . U might be singing along to blank space like a normal pop song but when you pay attention to the lyrics there's a lot going on and the lyrics are so damn witty . It's hard to put catchy quality tune and clever lyrics together . She can play multi instruments acoustic guitar , 12 string guiter , electric guiter , banjo , ukulele piano . Y'all like to discredit her guiter skills but I've seen lots of professional guiterists praising her guiter skills and impressed by it. So, i definitely think she belongs a place in there .

Hollow, bubblegum pop garbage. No better than any of the terrible Stock Aitken Waterman acts from the 80s, but since popular music is in such a desperate state nowadays, she's held up as an actual talent. We really are living in the end times.

Posted by Jimothy on Sunday, 10/3/2021 @ 00:57am

She is a joke of the music world and has no talent ever in music to say that she is a great artist because in music today you need 50 years to be considered and she puts out terrible music

Posted by Pat monaco on Sunday, 10/31/2021 @ 06:24am

I'm disappointed by a lot of these comments. TAYLOR has broken alot of records over the years with her music. She's extremely talented.

Posted by Tabetha A Collins on Monday, 11/1/2021 @ 23:23pm

Under no circumstance should Taylor Swift be inducted. Her brand of milquetoast pop writing is anathema to the ears. Her crippling insecurities when it comes to awards lead her to craft Grammy bait that gets fallen for and eaten up every single time that somehow she has maddeningly tied Stevie Wonder (seriously) for number of 'Album of the Year' awards. She does not deserve to be nominated purely because of sales numbers, her type of songs and catalogue will be long since forgotten (if we're lucky) beyond the teenage bedrooms they mostly play out of.

Posted by Taylor Swift is a joke on Thursday, 11/4/2021 @ 19:22pm

Wow. Some of these comments are just nasty. I was not a swiftie from the start but my how she has grown into someone who speaks for a generation. Too many people are gate keeping if it were another artist would you feel differently? As for "not a great singer" I agree. But neither is Stevie, Carole, Bruce or Bob and yet they are INCREDIBLE artists, songwriters, musicians. Talent is just the singing portion. It's I truly challenge people to just read the lyrics, just the words on a page and question yourself. Maybe you'll start to feel different.

Posted by Mle on Sunday, 11/28/2021 @ 15:17pm

Her and Beyonce were easily the greatest female artists of the 2010s. She'll be inducted on her first year of eligibility. As she should

Posted by Tanner on Friday, 12/24/2021 @ 11:12am

How the hell are the more recent comments on this one so divisive? She's towered, both critically and commercially, over a decade in a way similar to how Michael Jackson towered over the 80s, earned comparisons to Bruce Springsteen, had Paul McCartney and Billy Joel sing her praise, and had some of the biggest artists from the next generation like Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, and Phoebe Bridgers talk about how influential Swift has been on them as artists.

Swift is 100% going in in her first year.

Posted by Mat R on Tuesday, 01/11/2022 @ 17:01pm

i do think she's going to get in but she does not belong in the rock and roll hall of fame at all. it's the ROCK AND ROLL hall of fame, not the pop hall of fame. the RNR hall of fame might be a popularity contest but really only rock acts belong in here. it's becoming more like the music hall of fame the more that pop and rap artists are being debated on entering. the only music i can really think that belongs in here other than RNR is hip hop, and even then its very debatable based on each artist.

Posted by Kirsten on Thursday, 01/20/2022 @ 15:14pm

She'll get in, and I hate that that's true.

Posted by Henry on Tuesday, 02/15/2022 @ 23:54pm

I get the hate due to her vapidity and selfishness but she's in the same category as John Mayer for me - a shoe-in for the hall. Great songwriter, hitmaker, consistent chart-topper. The latest album shows evidence of musical and artistic growth too. An entire generation of women wrote songs on acoustic guitar because of her. Respect is due.

Posted by Carl on Sunday, 04/3/2022 @ 04:03am

Considering the accolades, genre versatility, songwriting ability (worthy of much more esteem than these comments give her credit; cite the deep cuts from Speak Now, RED, Folklore, Evermore) and her willingness to fight for artists' rights, anyone can deduce how impactful she has become as an artist. She has shaped the industry in a real, tangible way. As much as one may not appreciate her style or what they think is her personality, she is a shoe-in for the RNRHOF.

Posted by Zac on Friday, 04/8/2022 @ 12:56pm

She's going to be a first ballot inductee and I can't wait to see the loser boomers FUME about the good old days and how music is trash now.
Lmao

Posted by Windsor on Friday, 05/27/2022 @ 04:14am

Yes, she will get in. It's not even a question based on her accomplishments alone…shes one of the biggest and most prolific songwriters of her generation. Would be neat to see her jump genres again and cut a rock album or two though. She's only 32, so she still has plenty of time if she wants to. If she did do a rock album I wonder what it would sound like? I'm going to be generous and say something like Kate Bush or Massive Attack. She'd probably change her style a bit but remain herself. Taylor is super talented, and I'm sure she would get the right people around her.

Posted by Will K on Wednesday, 11/23/2022 @ 16:35pm

Anyone who says no is just sexist. She's been on the radio since 2006?

Posted by Jesse on Wednesday, 01/25/2023 @ 11:04am

Considering shes one of the most successful and awarded female artists of all time there really shouldn't be a debate as to whether or not she gets in because the answer is yes. If you compare her career to many artists that are already in the hall of fame she easily trumps many of them and not to mention she's also one of the best songwriters of the current generation and is only 33 years young with a lot left in the tank.

Posted by Barrett on Thursday, 01/26/2023 @ 20:04pm

She's definitely getting in, and I dread the day she gets nominated.

Posted by Henry Drummond on Thursday, 03/16/2023 @ 22:54pm

Obviously she will get inducted, she is the best female songwriter of her generation and XXI century, an actual musican who compose her music, She has everything, success, critical acclaim, touring, storytelling, stage presence, charisma, personality - and most importantly timeless personal soulful multi-generational spanning discography and enormous cultural impact, and huge HUGE balls and courage. Her current tour, the demand she has, the absolute cultural impact, where people all over the world killing themselves for the tickets is absolutely crazy. She is currently on biggest tour in history. How she is single handedly boosting local American economy every state she visit is another answer for you bitter and pathetic comment, she is doing better job than politicans in Washington D.C.. Its closed deal, more than that, looking at her achievements and cultural impact she already deserve to be inducted at 33 yrs old age, she is already on the level of biggest musicans of all time, without having the advantage they had (we live in internet era, internet overexposure and the list goes so its harder for artist to have lasting impact).

PS: I wont even talk about how many shit they were throwing under her feet to slow her down and lesser her most of her career, trying to destroy her/ trying to cancel her/ trying to minimize her talent and achievements, and im talking about industry effort because she "wasnt in the club" and was outsider from Nashville. But she broke through the wall like the legend she is, and now the case is basically closed, she is written already in history, as legend, as cultural icon, and she deserve everything she achieved, because of her talent, work ethics and driven fearless personality who was pushing forward her entire career despite all of the pushbacks.

Taylor won 3x AOTY with completely three different albums in complete three different genres, and all these three albums had absolute enormous comercial success and cultural impact, and all these genre switches she took were huge risks.

Fearless, country-pop, her second album, country industry absolutely stood with her during this time. Also its good album, with very good uplifting melodies and with enormous comercial success and cultural impact.

1989 - amazing synth pop, one of the biggest pop album of all time, zero skips basically, she made huge risks changing genres and losing the country industry support, but she did it, because she is courageous and ambitious -> absolutely deserved win, 1989 was owning the year of 2014.

Folklore - like its the most spontaneous album from songwriter of all time, before covid, she had already planned tour, and if COVID wouldnt happen she would never made folklore. Its BY FAR the most soulful, and impactful album of the pandemic, and only Tay from mainstream artist could pull it out, because she actually write her music and has control over her creative process. She won the AOTY despite that Hollyweird and pop branches didnt vote for her, she lost the POP Vocal album, so she got votes from the indie and country industry. Nothing more to be said.

All three AOTY wins are absolutely deserved, and objectively speaking she has one of the most iconic and soulful discography of all time, its absolute objective fact.

Nothing more to be said, she is American queen and princess, bow down.

Perhaps the most successful industry plant in music history. 100% making it in, though her family of bank presidents and Merrill Lynch workers who bought a record company just so she could be signed made that an absolute.

She deserves to be inducted the year she becomes eligible. She is the most popular and influential artist of the 21st century who changed music forever, easily the best artist since The Beatles, or maybe by 2031 she will have sold more albums than The Beatles and become the biggest artist of all time.

Taylor was on the TIME POTY cover twice. She is ranked #1 charting artist by Billboard in the past 25 years. She won more Billboard and American Music awards than any other artist. She needs 3 more awards to win the most VMA's ever. At the Grammys only a few woman have more Grammys than her, the 4 AOTY wins are the most ever. Tons of country music and songwriter awards on top. Her ERAS tour is the highest grossing tour ever, she is on her way to become the highest grossing artist of the past 25 years in global live entertainment, selling 20 Million tickets overall. She could sell many more, Ticketmaster crashes when she sells tickets. The highest grossing concert movie of all time is hers, she just sold it to Disney+ for $75 Million. The most streamed female artist on Spotify and Apple music. She tops charts all over the world, at the time of writing this comment she has all top 5 albums in Australia. One of the biggest persons on social media, one of the 10 most searched living people on Wikipedia ever. And look how much coverage she gets when she just appears at an award show or the NFL. Taylormania. Yes, she is getting into the hall.

She will get in 100%. She cemented her self as the most versetile and also most folky of the big Pop Stars coming up in the 00s/10s. While she has a lot of soft, easy listening bubblegum songs it is unquestionable that she is doing what Rock bands of old did for their generations: write and sing the songs that move and inspire young people. And she definitely has a bit of a rebel rock n roll spirit coming through in her fight against the labels and activist work.
And lets not forget that a llot of her music is very influenced by folk and rock artists that are unquestionable Rock NRoll Hall of famers.
