This is a joke, right? Like a roach trap - to see if any wackos emerge to cheer for Survivor??

The fact they will forever be known as the Rocky band doesn't do them justice. High on You, The Search Is Over, Is This Love, and I Can't Hold Back were all great songs that weren't on a Rocky soundtrack.

Great band. should be in.

Ho hum at best. No great loss if they don't make it.

Can one song (Eye of the Tiger(obviously)) be elected?

Don't get on me glam fans. I know they weren't a true one hit wonder, but seriously, only one song has lasting value.

The lead singer does the vocals on Budweiser Real Men of Genius... he gets my vote as a solo artist hands down.

"Mr. Stadium Scoreboard Marriage Proposal Guy"

Screw Cobain. That is musical genius.

Survivor, glam? Wrong.

Whatever the hell they are, I don't care. I know one song, like most people, and it sounds like glam to me, whatever. The point is that the lead singer is a real man of genius.

Eye Of The Tiger is a ripoff of Alan Parsons Project's I Wouldn't Want to Be Like You.

Isn't "glam" more of a visual thing...?

Posted by Gitarzan on Monday, 12.14.09 @ 23:08pm

I do agree that those bud light "real men of genius" commercials a pretty funny...

Posted by Gitarzan on Monday, 12.14.09 @ 23:15pm

No. Of absolutely no importance, and the couple of hits they did have weren't all that good anyhow.

Unfortunately, this band is more likely to be remembered for the (first) lead singer's participation in the Bud Light "Real Men of Genius" radio commercials. Survivor itself is basicly just another pop/rock band.

Survivor should be inducted -- most certainly Jim Peterik deserves to be in! He has written more rock songs for various bands than almost anyone out there!!! He wrote or co-wrote most of Survivor's hits; quite a few of 38 Special hits including "Hold on Loosely;" not to mention his work with the Ides of March -- most notably "Vehicle!" Oh, and he can sing all the lead vocals as well! I had not idea and play most instruments! I only knew him as Survivor's keyboard player and from Ides.

Say what you will, at the end of the day there was no bigger band than Survivor in the eighties. They wrote all their own material and played their own instruments and weren't studio creations. Can't say that for a LOT of artist already inducted.

"Survivor was the biggest band of the 80's"
are you kidding me?

Posted by GFW on Monday, 08.27.12 @ 13:45pm

"at the end of the day there was no bigger band than Survivor in the eighties."

I... don't even know... what to say... where's that drink? I can't believe you'd even consider saying that. I don't know if they were one of the 20 biggest... did you know Ratt were bigger, as well as having bigger hits?

"They wrote all their own material and played their own instruments and weren't studio creations. Can't say that for a LOT of artist already inducted."

Apart from the 50 or 60 at least who did and weren't, right?

Perfect example of why fans aren't allowed to vote on this.

Survivor is another good band that won't make the RRHOF.The Survivor hits of the 80's was impressive:The massive hit Eye Of The Tiger,Burning Heart,High on You,I Can't Hold Back,& the underrated classic ballad The Search Is Over.

Like many bands,Survivor started moving to a more Top 40 sound with the synthesizers & broadening their base of fans. Should have stayed with the more upbeat rockers like Eye Of The Tiger & Burning Heart. KING

Jim Peterik is the most underrated song writer, he should be in the song writers hall of fame.

Jim Peterik was also in the Ides of March. He wrote and sang lead on their biggest hit, Vehicle.
