I guess I am a late bloomer discovering this act. Until about a couple months ago, I had never heard of them. Story goes like this: the radio station I worked at had tickets for the staff to attend (even though we never played them), and I declined. Instead, I chose to see Saint Motel/Jr. Jr./Weathers, who were all playing next door at a new small venue. The Rae Sremmurd show sold out bigtime, and I saw the very long line of people outside (mostly hot young women, around 20-25; not very many dudes!). Of course I was like, what the hell? But I later gave them a listen, and I'm glad that I did.

Rae Sremmurd (ear drummers spelled backwards) now has a Billboard #1 Pop single, "Black Beatles". Great song, but "No Type" is the one that never gets old for me. Best thing to sum up their music is stoner rap/hip-hop, with a little emo mixed in. Think Wiz Khalifa. I expect to see/hear more from the two guys that make up Rae Sremmurd in the future.

Jason, that band replaced some guy who was supposed to be playing at Voodoo Fest & then got sent to prison for a stretch. Heard they did a great job. I did not see them, myself.

Sounds like the kind of hip hop act that would appeal to me :-)
