Will Meat Puppets be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame?
"Musical excellence is the essential qualification for induction."

There's a few '80s U.S. underground alternative/post-punk groups that I'd like to induct first, such as Sonic Youth and Husker Du, because I think they're a wee bit more influential, but the strength of Meat Puppets II should really be enough to get them in (not that's all they did of note).

The big 10 of 80's American College Rock (not counting R.E.M who went mainstream and is already in the hall)...

Butthole Surfers
Camper Van Beethoven
Dinosaur Jr.
The Feelies
Husker Du
Meat Puppets
The Replacements
Sonic Youth
Violent Femmes

At least Dinosaur, Husker Du, Meat Puppets, Pixies, the Replacements and Sonic Youth all deserve enshrinement. And probably none will ever get it.

Oh yeah and add Minutemen to that list!

I think a few of them do stand a chance. It may just take a bit.

Figure on Nirvana's induction in 2014 (2013? - I'm forgetting here) any band assocaited w/the group will return, at least briefly, to the spotlight. That includes Sonic Youth, the Pixies, & the Meat Puppets definitively.

In addition to that, the voting board will change slightly in the next few years. That will also have an effect. I'm willing to bet that Sonic Youth may get in first, w/the Pixies following, though they may not get in till a bit afterwards.

2016/2017 - Sonic Youth
2018 - Pixies
2020 - Replacements (perhaps)

Not sure about anyone else, though I think the lack of quality acts after 2023/2024 might have an effect.

Security Question:

Which letter is Springsteen's band named after?
