how can someone make a career, with so many flaws in their voice she the most famous non-singing person alive thank god for stellar production and well written song to cover the fact she's off key and flat with strained high notes. lets give this award to someone that can sing stop making a joke of the music industry people

If only for her rendition of U2's One should she get in. What an incredible voice. What a knockout performance.

ABSOLUTELY NOT! Why even consider putting a low-class singer who is known for her trademark off-key screaming into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame? Other than her singing abilities (or lack of), what legacy has she marked, either than badly copying the worlds greatest soul singers such as Aretha, Chaka, Patti & Gladys.

she may sing off key but not all amazing and influential musicians were the best singers. If this is about who made an influence on music, which she has made a big influence on many r&b artists today AND has had great career longevity and will go on singing for a long time to come then most definitely she should be in...

Mary J Blige isn';t the greatest singer. She knows this and many others know this. However not all performers are the best singers.
What makes her great is the music and her career. not many R&B singers last over 4 years, so when you last 24 years it is amazing. However having a great deal of popularity that grows in those 24 years. Then you truly are a legend of sorts. She isn't a legend in the vain of Lynrd Skynrd or Queen or the Beatles. She is a MODERN R&B and Soul legend.

She's been coined the "Queen of Hip-Hop Soul," and I'd say that she more than anyone since 1990 is deserving of such a title. On the whole, she hasn't received a lot of acclaim compared to some, but there are some acts who made it into the HOF who weren't super- acclaimed, either. I can see Mary J. being considered- whether it's as soon as she's eligible is another story.

Let's induct a true legend like Janet Jackson first. And then we can (maybe!!) consider an artist like Mary J Blige.
