Janis Joplin's posthumous hit, Me and Bobby McGee was actually a cover of a Kris Kristofferson song. The two were dating not too long before her death.

Kris Kristofferson is responsible for the discovery of John Prine and Steve Goodman. He was playing at a club in Chicago were Steve Goodman was also playing. Paul Anka met up with Kristofferson after playing at another club in Chicago. He heard Steve Goodman and said he would pay his plane fare to New York. Steve told them that if you think I'm good you have to hear my friend, John Prine. So he called John and they went to the club John Prine was playing at and Paul Anka agreed to pay for his plane fare to New York too.

Kris Kristofferson also helped them both out. He tried to pitch Steve's City of New Orleans to Johnny Cash who passed on it because he didn't want to be known as the guy who sang only train songs. Johnny Cash did eventually record it after Arlo Guthrie had a hit with it.

Yeah. It's a no brainier for me. He sure doesn't have the best voice; and he isn't a guitar virtuoso either. He's mainly a songwriter, a really really good one.
Johnny Cash, Janis Joplin knew it at first glance. His legitimacy In music has to supported by being a member of the "Highwaymen". I think his personna, his strange, but admirably diverse skills, and talents should be considered; with his undeniable song writing skill. You can't really argue that he influenced culture. RRHOF should ask Him,"Please."

I thought a huge criteria for induction was the positive influence one had on Rock & Roll. There can be no doubt about that. It is incredible the lives that he has touched along the way and probably a huge reason that many are in the Hall now. I saw Kris at the 2009 Ann Arbor Folk Festival, his show was acoustic and solo. Wonderful to see and such a humble person too. Humility is a great quality he has too. Please Hall get with it!!! Way to go with Warren Zevon 2023!!!! I love the RR HOF and my 2 visits are memorable. Than you
