Kenny G in the Rock Hall??? HELL NO!!! If he gets in, then the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame should be torn down. Why? He is NOT Rock, and he is a disgrace to music! He should not be in any music hall of fame at ALL!

LOL. "Going Home" isn't so bad though.

He isn't rock, but he is musically inclined. I'm not saying he is rock, because he deffinately is not,but you can't call him a disgrace to music. If you can pick up a saxophone and play it better then him, then maybe.
But if not, then you have to give the guy credit where its due.
My vote is still no, not in the RNRHOF

Ok, I dont think Kenny G belongs in the Hall but I would never call the guy a disgrace to music because that is not true he is gifted but he does not belong in the Hall.

Hee hee ho-ho ha-ha-ha huh-huh-huh. Come on, now, guys, fess-up -- who's the numbskull with the sense of humor who stuck his name in there? You slay me!

I honestly think he should be let in. I actually hate his music, but he is a prodigy in his genre. Besides, if you can let rappers and jazz artists in, why not Kenny G?

Hi Jim. Photos i received. Thanks

I think Kenny G would make it in the RNRHOF a lot easier than Ice-T or Madonna would.

I mean what the fuck...MADONNA?!

kenny g is not rock, and he is a disgrace to most jazz saxophonists. His improvising sucks and his tone mainly comes from all the reverb they add in the studio. and yes i and many other people who practiced for about a year could play better than kenny g

Rock & Roll, not even close. But I've played guitar for 40 years and consider myself fairly accomplished. I would never dismiss this guys musical prowess...NEVER!!! If you can do better, I suggest you get out and DO it and quit talking a good gig!!!

As Dimebag Darrell so aptly put it..."If you can play music, none of it sucks!!!"

It is NEVER a must that you have to "lol play better" to criticize someone's performance. Do you think movie and music critics actively get roles in short films and produce studio albums? The mentality of having to do something better in order to say something is bad is ridiculous.

Kenny G should not be inducted into anything, period. No one that decides it is in their best interest to try and make a fine song (What a Wonderful World) better by vomiting their out of tune dribble on it deserves any recognition whatsoever. He is a disgrace, and so is his music.

"Oh, my God, they inducted Kenny!"
"You bastards!"

He is not a prodigy he just repeats the smae things over and over but i'm not gonna bash him too bad because some of his stuff is ok but as for hall of fame material he's just not talaented enough in my opinion he's not really innovative or amazingly good at his instrument. As for letting other than rock and roll artists in the hall has let in Madonna, Steely Dan, Miles Davis, Robert Johnson and so on but once again Kenny G is just not on the level musically as Steely Dan, Miles Davis, or Robert Johnson, notice who i left out.

Look man, thanks for the tip. I'd rather learn from insults than ignore what everyone says, and because you are just a kid, I'd rather not fight with you.

To clarify some things they do use reverb, but what about all my performances? I don't then, because I am an amazing saxophonist.

Letting me in for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame was a bit weird, so I'm saying right now, I agree about what everyone says about me.

Yes, if you believe you are better than me, than I will quit forever. However I advise people that I am amazing so if don't want to be embarrased, don't challenge me.

Hey "Kenny G" I know you are able by means of circular breathing to hold a note for 45 minutes. But heres a bit of news for you - you are NOT in the Rock museum. But keep on blowin anyway brotha.

Rock and roll? Hmm. Don't know about that. Not a bad saxophonist though. Some pretty-sounding songs, though corny and not that original or inventive, especially by jazz standards. I think you can enjoy some of his songs if you just take his music for what it is and don't try to compare him to truly legendary musicians. Chef Boyardee is never gonna taste great when you compare it to gourmet Italian food, but if you approach G's music without expecting epic greatness from it, you won't be disappointed.

Amber you just used 5 sentences to say what Joe-Skee said in only 2 words: "elevator music"

I disagree. I believe he should be in the Rock Hall. Why, you may ask? There's Rap and Reggae actually in the Rock Hall. Is that Rock? No it isn't. No one can play a saxophone like him. He has my vote!

Commerical: he's sold millions of records, definetly enough
Innovation: Nope, he's got nothing in this when compared to most other jazz artists
Influence: The only people he's influenced are fellow jazz-lite artists, nothing to be proud of

Posted by GFW on Sunday, 05.15.11 @ 11:54am

Influence: He influenced some lite jaz artists I guess. 15
Innovation: nope.
Sales: 75 million sold somehow. 30
Critical Respect: he must be one of the most hated jazz musicians ever. 0

45, nope.

Just curious, but how many posters here have ever heard any of Kenny G's pre-Duotones material? His first three solo albums were well-done, funk/disco-influenced works. G Force (1983) and Gravity (1985) were easily Kenny's best albums before he turned to making hotel lobby-sounding music.

For a taste of Kenny G when he was making more eclectic, exciting music, I'd check out these tunes:

Love on the Rise - Gravity

Hi How Ya Doin' - G Force

G Force - G Force

Sax Attack - Gravity

I Wanna Be Yours - G Force
