One of the better post-punkers out there. Odds are fairly slim but I would be very pleased if by some fluke this happened.

Good, but no influence...does not qualify

If Elvis Costello is in, this guy should make it.
His early stuff is great..

Had Jackson stayed the course of his first brilliant two three albums he'd be in by now. But his constant stylistic changes that occurred after than have made it difficult to pin him down, thus limiting his influence. It is within the realm of possibility that he might sneak in one of these years, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Bowie kept changing styles too,and he's in the RRHoF. So why not Joe Jackson

R U Kidding me? When you look at some of the dreck that's been let in, Joe has to be put in. He was a monumental force in the new wave era, then matured into a great adult contemporary rocker. I just saw him again a few months ago, and he still rocks!!!

Isn't Joe Jackson blacklisted from the Hall?

Wait for it....wait for it....

I agree with Kit. One of the best post-punks. As a guitarist, I always appreciated his songwriting skills. Instead of the usual major rock chords, Joe would always slip in a few of the jazzier 9th/13th type of chords. That made it interesting.

Absolutely awesome.

Jackson's "Steppin' Out" & Nick Lowe's "Cruel to be Kind" are, for me at least, the two most underrated songs from early new wave. I was never a major Elvis Costello fan, and I always thought he got more hype than he should have. I can take him or leave him.

No matter who it is, I'm willing to bet anyone would kill to be able to put together something that good.

Thanks to my parents I've grown up on Jackson. Not really sure if he's worthy of the Hall, but a talented guy nonetheless, and it would be nice if it happened.

First three albums are enough to induct Jackson, considering that it was enough for Rod Stewart.

I agree that longevity should not be a factor in whether someone is worthy or not. The Jimi Hendrix Experience were only around for three to three and a half years, The Doors for six, The Sex Pistols for one album, Cream for four, The Smiths for four, and Alice in Chains under Layne Staley for three. However, those bands changed the course of rock music in some way. Joe Jackson is a talented guy but did he change music? I'm not really sure. I would be happy if he was inducted, but I'm not sure whether he should, and he probably won't get in either way. Actually, his whole Greatest Hits collection is underrated new wave stuff either way.

Joe Jackson was so far ahead of his times that he never received the acclaim that he deserved for his trend-setting influence.

And he achieved wonderful success just for making great music that still defies categorization today--with his 1980s "Night and Day" album.

If you prefer his early style, his last two albums form the 00s "Volume 4" and 2008's "Rain" will completely satisfy you.

As near as I can tell, nobody "Got This", at least publicly, until now. Mind you, it's a pity that a baseball fan like myself didn't see this, and I've been to this page once before.

You are a genius, my good man.

Regrettably, it took 3 yrs., 2 wks., & 6 days for a public acknowledgement.
