Why not? Sure, Jerry was the Grateful Dead, but good enough to get another induction.

The Jerry Garcia Band was a spinoff band founded in 1975. It performed less experimental work than the Dead but otherwise performed the same kind of music.

Garcia hated the Hall of Fame, when the Dead got inducted he refused to attend, instead the rest of the band (including ex-keyboard player Tom Constanten) attended and brought a life-sized cardboard cut-out of Jerry on stage with them. The Hall of Fame are biased, and in this case I can understand. Why honour someone who hated you? Not to mention The Dead were enormous. They're almost a household name, but Garcia Band was nowhere near as famous. Makes sense for the 'Hall of FAME'.
