He belongs in Rock and Roll hall of Fame Posted by Linda Hoobler on Thursday, 12/12/2019 @ 03:26am |
Frankie Avalon was one of many who laid the groundwork for R&R in the 50's and 60's. Not inducting him in the R&R Hall Is a mistake. And further, no inducting Johnny Maestro in the Hall is even a bigger snub. Maestro, the lead singer in the first mixed race grout (The Crests) as well as later on, The Brooklyn Bridge, was one of the top singers in the 50's and 60's. If you listen to Serius Radio, Maestro and Avalon can be heard singing at least one or two songs every hour upon hour. Both should have been inducted in the Hall of Fame 30-40 years ago. Chubby Checker, in the Hall, made his mark by covering songs initially sung by Hank Ballard (Twist, Pony, etc.) as well as copying his singing voice. Check it out and you find out I'm right. It's really not a Hall of Fame, it's a popularity contest. Posted by J c on Monday, 10/10/2022 @ 05:23am |
