No, he should not!

The rock and roll hall of fame is for people that have influenced rock n roll, and embody the rock and roll spirit. Eric is more of a technical scholar-type guitar nerd. Yes he can play guitar, and yes he has his own tone and all, but it's not real rock and roll.

And he hasn't changed the course of music history. There is a reason why Chuck Berry is the first inductee. Chuck berry was one of the first persons to bring black rock n roll to a white audience. When the radio DJs of the time saw his face on the black and white covers, they could not tell he was black, so he got airplay.

Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix and Ramones, have started new sub genres in rock and roll like punk rock, psychedelic rock and influenced thousands and thousands of bands.

Eric has not.

He should be inducted into the elevator music or AOR hall of fame where he might have had an influence. He will never be inducted for the same reasons Richie Sambora will never be inducted.

Of course he should get in. So should Phil Keaggy and Robin Trower among many others who have actually played rock music and are among the very best to do so. The HOF has become a laughing stock with their idiotic pop and even rap nonsense getting in. I wouldn't even want to be a part of it.

How EJ isnt nominated into the RRHOF.. would be an injustice. 8 grammy nods and 1 win, and a true influencer of the guitar and music. How many people can you hear and say .. hey thats HIM.

Absolutely he's technically one of the best. Probably the most underrated and right there with Joe Satriani as far as influences to people learning how to properly play.

If I were Eric and got nominated into the RRHOF, I would politely decline. One of the reasons to decline is that the RRHOF isn't considered representing Rock and Roll. Its more of a "Good ole boys club" in which bands and artist of the non rock genre gets accepted. One example of this would be the Beastie Boys. I love the BB, but having them in the RRHOF is wrong. Also, waiting so long to induct Rush was a travesty! The RRHOF is irrelevant in representing pure rock and roll which should be held sacred with rock musicians around the globe.

Eric has created a style of rock guitar that will live on for ever. He is one the best rock guitarist ever to play the instrument . 100 percent he should have already be inducted .
