Commercials director Michael Gracey will helm 'Rocketman'

Justin Timberlake to play Elton John. He already did it in the music video for This Train Don't Stop Here Anymore.

I wonder who will play Bernie Taupin.

Crossed 1 off my musical bucket list, as I saw Elton close out Bonnaroo 2014. He generally sat at a bright red grand piano (which he played the shit out of), and had a 7 or 8 man backing band. 2 of the band's members had been with him over 40 years. Of course, he played em all. Only big hit he didn't get to was "Don't go Breaking My Heart". Guessing Kiki Dee wasn't available to duet it with him. Largest crowd I have seen for a closing act in the 4 Bonnaroos I've attended. Must have been 75,000 there. You could tell he was loving every minute of it. Hope y'all get to see him sometime.

Elton John at 70 [Interview].

I hate to even have to write this, but.......

Justin Bieber just passed Elton John with the most ever Hot 100 entries. Bieber, after this last week, added his 68th entry. He now has a solo share of 9th place to Elton's 10th.

It certainly helps when the Biebs adds his vocals to almost every other song released these days to radio, so his ranking will surely continue to rise. Elton needs to add his vocals to Ed Sheeran songs to try to keep up!

40. Elton John

Elton John shifted the idea of what a rock star could look and sound like. He could put on a show like no other, armed with a piano rather than a guitar. With writing partner Bernie Taupin, Sir Elton accumulated a catalog of hits that could rival most of the acts on this list.

59. Elton John (1994)

John unquestionably is a pop-rocker not a rocker. He was flamboyant, but he was also someone you could take home to mother. But there has always been an unmistakable integrity to both his music and persona; with an erratic but prolific lyricist in Bernie Taupin, he ruled ‘70s rock and put out more good-to-great albums during this period than Paul McCartney and Billy Joel combined, though not Stevie Wonder. He fairly bravely came out in the mid-1970s. He also has something Joel doesn’t have and that is somehow irrelevant to McCartney, which is good taste. His melodrama never goes overboard and his pop instincts were always natural and flowing.

I think the main reason for the lack of chart success of the Rocket Man soundtrack is because it is a covers album. Yes, the movie is popular at the moment. But I'm sure people would rather buy the Elton John compilation CDs on the $5 Wal-Mart rack then get the soundtrack.

The new Lion King soundtrack debuted at # 31 last week on the Billboard 200 Albums chart. This week it went up to # 13. It did much better than the Rocketman Soundtrack (# 50).

And it's another cash-grabbing, senseless remake no one ask for.

Michael Jackson told you to beat it while Elton John was still standing, and Michael Jackson was bad while Elton John didn't want to go on with you like that, and Michael Jackson told you to leave him alone.

Don't forget about the members of the Elton John Band not being included for induction.. List of qualified members posted by Roy on May 28, 2020.. I may even want to add backup singer Cindy Bullens to that list.. She was great!..

Apparently James Pankow wrote the horn parts for Elton John's Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me, but never got credited. Elton John and Chicago were both at the Caribou Ranch around the same time producing their albums, Caribou and Chicago VII.

Chicago VI, Chicago VII, Chicago VIII, Chicago X, and Chicago XI were all produced at The Caribou Ranch, owned by James William Guercio at the time.

Bernie Taupin deserves an induction for his work with Elton John and nothing else really but he is an important figure.

Clearly, 80s-90s Elton John and solo Peter Cetera music doesn't mesh well together. Two completely different styles musically and lyrically. I'm not too crazy about this mix, but the 90s portion is way better than the 80s portion.

Elton John was the # 1 charting solo artist and the # 1 charting artist period on the U.S. Billboard 200 Albums chart and the U.S. Billboard 100 Singles chart for the 1970s, and Chicago was the # 1 charting band on the U.S. Billboard 200 Albums chart and the U.S. Billboard 100 Singles chart for the 1970s. Their styles and sounds are very different, and when you listen to all their hits side-by-side, in chronological order, they don't mesh well together, but there is a way to listen to their songs together that would make them sound great back to back. I'll start with all the 1970s Elton John and Chicago hits first, and then I'll pick out and make lists of the Elton John and Chicago songs that would actually sound perfect together. The years listed with the songs are not necessarily the years the songs charted, but the years the albums the songs came from were released.
