Saw these fellows Friday up in Louisville. Nice crowd at a small venue (Mercury Ballroom). Had 2 opening acts with band (Pete RG & Lullwater). The Lullwater band (from Athens, GA) was quite impressive.

Listened to them for about 1 hour. Played about 11 songs during that time. Lead singer (Kevin) does a nice job fronting band. has a good sense of humor. He also hates Dubya & loves weed, so we have something in common. Have 2 excellent guitarists, I enjoyed myself a lot.

Saw Candlebox as part of a retro-fest over the weekend. Their performance was great, as they had a lot of fun on stage (reminiscing and playing all their 20+ year old material). I saw them six years ago as part of another radio-station festival, so I guess this is where they are getting the gigs (?). They did put out some great music back in the day during my junior-high years. Glad they are still rocking it.

Other bands I saw at this day-long retro-fest (that don't have a page on this site) were Alien Ant Farm, Local H and Stir. Stir is a popular local St. Louis band that had a couple national hits but broke up as they were getting bigger. They are now back together again.

Glad you saw them, Jason. Fine act that gives you a great show. That festival sounded sweet.

It would be interesting to see Dave Krusen - one of Pearl Jam’s past drummer - as a multi-inductee, but it’s not gonna. I think what really hurt Candlebox’s chances of getting in is they’re the first band to be labeled as “post-grunge.”

A derogatory either coined by journalists who are hipsters in nature or grunge purists.

A couple post-grunge bands will probably get in. Foo Fighters probably first ballot with Stone Temple Pilots and Live possibly having a slight chance 15 or 20 years past eligibility. Candlebox might count as a legitimate grunge band considering Kevin Martin and Andy Wood hung out before grunge went mainstream, but plenty of legitimate and more important grunge bands like Mudhoney and the Melvins and Green River won't get in either. I would expect only Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, and Foo Fighters as far as Seattle bands from the '90s. Their issue is the lack of staying power: they are really only remembered for one single, which I do think is pretty great..., not their classification. The issue with most post-grunge bands is that they had two big albums at most followed by nothing, and also mostly that few of them influenced anybody who the original four mainstream grunge bands didn't influence themselves.

And as far as Pearl Jam drummers go, I'd say Matt Cameron and Jack Irons would both deserve second inductions much more than Krusen, since Cameron was with Soundgarden at their peak and Irons was with RHCP during their rise, but Irons didn't get it. Cameron will.

If Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, AIC and Nirvana were whole milk, then Candlebox would be powdered milk.

This band doesn't hold a candle to the sheer catalog and influence of the Melvins. Then again, when has musical influence ever dictated nomination or induction in the joke that is the RRHOF.

What album should be inducted next? I think breaking benjamin should be inducted next! Why has noone said that he has written albums so great some 2 are double platnium! He is the greatest post grunge artist of all time he has 3 platinum and has sold over seven million units in the United States alone he also has five gold singles! Take a listen to breath and until the end and you'll see why!

Haters will hate!
But.. Candlebox and Live are getting in!
The Gracious few, which consists of Singer Kevin Martin and Sean Hennessy from Candlebox and the Band from Live, Chad, Chad and Patrick.., is by far the best Super group ever! Check em out!
