I was always skeptical as to whether or not rappers should ever be considered real musicians. Then I heard Asher Roth's "I Love College" and realized that, yes, every rapper not named Asher Roth should be considered a real musician. That song set the bar about as low as popular music could possibly get. Then I heard the Jonas Brothers and bought an Asher Roth t-shirt.
