It is a TRAVESTY that WAR has yet to be inducted into The RRHOF.
I think that Jerry Goldstein has a lot to with that. I don't thing the RRHOF wants any problems on stage and they probably don't know how to address the fact that WAR still tours with a bunch of hired hands. Lonnie Jordan is the ONLY founding member still in the band WAR. The other surviving members (Lee Oskar, Harold Brown, Howard Scott and BB Dikerson) tour as The Lowrider Band.

It's hard to imagine War hasn't yet been inducted into the Rock and Hall of Fame. They fused Latin and African music with their unique blend of funk and rock. They had massive hits--"Spill the Wine," "The Cisco Kid," "Slippin' Into Darkness," "Low Rider," and "Why Can't We Be Friends?" They had a distinct sound all the while writing songs with sociopolitical messages. The problem with War is most people think their discography is too small for induction ("Low Rider" is the one that everyone immediately thinks of; great song but there's so much more from their catalogue). This is truly madness, given their influences on contemporary musicians.

Many people have commented whether Eric Burdon deserves to be inducted with War (if that happens). Absolutely for a number of reasons. Just listen to "Spill the Wine" and that enough is a convincing argument for Burdon. Plus the Rock Hall loves having 2+-time inductees and this would be perfect. The other problem with War is who from the band would you induct? A lot of musicians came and gone in War, so narrowing it down would be tough for the Rock Hall (and bound for controversy among War's fans).

I fully predict War to be once again nominated for 2016 and hopefully they will get in this time. After all, I think the 2016 ceremony will take place in L.A. and this has to be their best shot of getting in, given their California roots. It would awesome for Burdon to reunite with War once again.

If War is ever included in the Rock n Roll hall of fame it should be the original members all of them! If they were not together as they were they would not have done what they were able to do, it was the combination of Howard Scott, Harold Brown, Lee Oscar and BB Dickerson and the late Charles Miller and Papa Dee that made them who they are NOT just LONNIE JORDAN and far out productions , they deserve the recognition as they were, not what WAR is today which is a washed down version and the songs were made by the original members! It's a genuine pity these guys haven't been inducted yet. They had a run of hits from 1970 - 1976 that were all over the pop charts as well as the R&B charts. A little funk, a little rock, a little Latin influence. They weren't Funkadelic, they weren't Earth Wind & Fire, and they weren't Sly, but they had a little bit of all of them rolled into one. One day, hopefully, someone will consider them.

YOU GOTTA BE KIDDIN ME!!!!! From the 60's and been so influential and embedded in American culture and subculture..have signature cuts and to be overlooked over and over...since wha??? Truly why?? The reason seems something else and I would hope it is not of the thing of Poor Boys...WARs non induction is an incredible loss for the stature and legitimacy of the so called Rock n Roll HOF....it should be chronologically sound...how u not have WAR before Guns n Roses??? I LOVE THEM, BUT THEY WERE NOT WAR!!

Living as a young teen to adult with WAR (my dad Charles Miller), in Hollywood was an awesome experience. I hope that Uncle's get inducted, and yes Eric is for sure my uncle too!

Laurian, I think War should have been in years ago. One of the great bands of the 70s. They've actually been nominated.

You mention Eric, who is already in through The Animals. I've heard he's not a favourite of many Hall members (for whatever reasons) and I wonder if they keep War out because it would give Eric another induction?

That, to me, would be oh so petty, but there are a bunch of people in the Hall who can think like that.

I do hope they get in and I think they will. May have to wait till Mr. Burdon passes away.

No speeches and no dissing of lesser groups already inducted.
Whether Burden accompanies them or not doesn't matter. He has his slot.
This is truly an American Band that had 7 Gold+ albums in a day when the music landscape was rich and abundant. They carved out their distinct niche.

Are Amazing.

Goldstein may have snatched their body but he never touched their soul.
It's more than overdue.
The crass and Commercial R&RHOF could give itself a boost of legitimacy and a semblance of credibility:
They weren't the Beach Boys but they were California.
It's time. Induct these creative and rather unique talents that breathed life into a genre while it was in its infancy.

Just saw them on cape cod, blast. They still "got" it, class act. Faaaantistic show. Hard to believe they are not yet in RRHOF. These guys deserve induction sooner than later.

War has got to be nominated again in 2023. Low rider, Why can't we be friends, Spill the wine, The world is a Ghetto are some the most iconic songs of all time & used in several iconic movies.
Can't believe they haven't made it in yet. Let's do it before Eric Burdon dies.

September 28, 2023. I went to a War concert last night in DeKalb, Illinois, at the Egyptian Theater. I feel sorry for anyone that wasn't there. It was amazing. Leroy "Lonnie" Jordan was large and in charge of his band. He and the boys expertly wove strains of rock, latin, jazz, funk, and soul among the familiar strains of some of their biggest hits. Their music represents cultural diversity at its absolute finest. Percussionists Sal and Pug Rodriguez deserve special mention. Having listened to Ginger Baker live in the 70's, I can honestly say these two were WAY better. Nothing gratuitous in any of their solos. At 75, Lonnie Jordan is the quintessential musician and deserving of ANY accolades we can throw his way. Thank you, thank you, War. You guys were and are AWESOME in the truest sense of the word.
