What the hey? I've lived in this city for 62 years, was there when the Stones first played the Cleveland Arena and helped hijack the HOF into this town. If I'd have known it would turn out to be the stumbling capitalistic bureaucracy it has become, I'd have voted for NYC to get it. I've been at La Cave,Otto's Grotto and was one of the originals at Adele's Bar on University Circle in 1967. This RRHOF is a sham and I will not visit it unless it majically reforms and honors other than the chic and fashionable. You call yourself rockers. Phft.

Rory is one of rock and rolls greatest musical talents. For him not to be inducted is pure horse shit.

You can go on and on. But with who the dredge up these days to put in the HOF, its just so shameful that Rory gets no recognition. Asise from Michael Jackson and Madonna, now Joan Jett and a handful of tunes. Shame on the HOF, as much as I'd love to see hime up there posthumously, I'm ok with him not being there too. Can only hope Slash can help make it happen.

I have seen a lot of artists in my time including Led Zep, Free, Springsteen, The Jam, Clapton, Jeff Beck, Santana etc. Rory was the best live performer I have ever witnessed. The fact that Rory is not in the R&R hall of Pop is to his credit. The R&R hall of Fame has as much credibility as the Grammys.

Rory deserves the HOF nod due to his influence on others, his skill and artistry and dedication to not selling out his music.

The Irish Hendrix. And even Hendrix admitted Rory was a better guiatrist than he was. He should have been in here long ago.

They (HOF) should hang their heads in shame and go back to counting the dollars.

Rory Gallagher was an iconic guitarist with all the talent a member of the hall of fame should require to be an inductee. But he was not commercial enough for their criteria. Multi instrumentalist wrote almost all of his songs except some other blues great songs. He should Have been inducted long before so many others that have been it's disgraceful and obvious of the halls bias for commercial artists, p.s. he sold over 30 million albums.

Rory Gallagher was and has continued to be, long after his passing, an astounding, quintessential Artist--a guitarist, song writer and performer who was highly regarded by Jimi, Clapton, and Paige for his singular unique mastery of the Blues, a Giant among the many who were famous but not classic-- and. he has always been a favorite of working musicians for decades because he reached a kind of superior yet casual perfection. Rory respected the Blues and all the men and women of the Blues throughout history that he'd studied and revered. He was a Blues Man. But he truly rocked it. Even John Mayall couldn't touch that guy. Ask Jeff Beck... When I saw Rory Gallagher "live" for the first time at The Blue Monk in Berkeley, it was like nothing I'd ever experienced before or since--stunning music and a volcanic stage presence that just crushed the audience--he came back for three encores and blew everyone away that night, rocking until 3am! I've seen all the greats "live" for the last 60 year's, man. All of 'em--and if Rory isn't inducted into the Hall of Fame then it's all bullshit. "A Million Miles Away" and "Edged in Blue"? -- the artistry alone of those two pieces is just like "Shut-up, man!--This Dude is playing." Great back-up bands, too. C'mon. It's time Rory got the Love & Respect he deserved but didn't live long enough take a bow, some respectful applause for the greatness that he created. Let's make this Right. Bring him in from The Cold.

Growing up in the 60's & 70's and enjoying the vast array of music was the best. Iconic performers like E.L.P., The Guess Who, Grand Funk R.R., Steppenwolf, Mountain, Alvin Lee, Johnny Winter, Bad Co., B.T.O., Boston, Foghat, Ted Nugent, Robin Trower, UFO, Marshall Tucker, and Peter Frampton (to name a few) helped create the soundtrack of some of our lives. I think they embody the best of rock & roll....they have yet to be recognized & celebrated by the R.R.H.O.F. ???
But the one omission that really needs to be addressed is Rory Gallagher. From Taste in '63 through his solo years till he passed in 1995, this extremely hard working & talented musician earned many accolades as well as inspiring & influencing some of the greatest guitarists to play Rock and the Blues. Rory ozzed the Blues through his studio work & many countless great live performances, creating his unique sound. He was also an exceptional slide and harmonica player and strong singer, who could be soulful or shred with the best of them.
So R.R.H.O.F., lets become better focused on the "Rock & Roll" greats and give them the respect & attention they've earned. Get this humble Irish guitar legend INDUCTED a.s.a.p. before you lose any more street cred & slip further inti irrelevancy.
thanks, Pete from L.I.N.Y.

if musical excellence is a prerequisite to entry then what's the problem? The man has this in spades. Add to this love of his music, it's roots, live performance.....His musical peers recognise his greatness just wish the corporate suits would wake up to to this...Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, indeed.

Gerry McAvoy his longstanding bassist, Rory's brother they're still here

What upsets me the most about the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is not so much how such great Rock and Roll talent like Rory Gallagher, Johnny and Edgar Winter, Mountain, Jethro Tull to name just a few, but rather those who ARE IN like Whitney Houston, Joan Baez, Leonard Cohen, Dolly Parton???? What a sad shame that this goes on !
