9 comments so far (post your own)The Rock N Roll Hall of Fame without King's X would be like the Monalisa not being in the Louvre. These guys belong so much more than many bands already in there. The MOST underrated rock band ever in the history of the Universe. Posted by Patrick on Wednesday, 08/20/2014 @ 21:38pm |
Echo many sentiments the posters have stated about King's X. There was this girl I knew who let me borrow one of their CD's. I can't think of a better song from start to finish than Over My Head. There was another song I think It's Love. Singer had soaring range and excellent musicians. Outstanding group who deserved a better fate like Child's Play & Maggie's Dream. Inclusion of this band, the most underrated and influential band in history, would bring instant credibility to the RRHOF. Posted by Dave on Sunday, 01/10/2016 @ 09:56am |
If they don't eventually induct them, the RRHOF is just a big joke in my eyes. Sadly, that's how most of those things are, because they reflect what appeals to the ignorant masses, which usually means what grabs their attention easily and is simple enough for a child. It would be nice for a panel of legitimate artists and critics to give bands like this honors they deserve. Posted by Clay on Sunday, 07/22/2018 @ 15:54pm |
They have a unique blend of alternative, hard rock, metal, funk, prog, and soul. But I'm not expecting them to get a nomination and induction mainly because they didn't made a significant impact and only have a handful of names who influenced them. The fact that Janet Jackson got into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame but King's X hasn't tells me that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame needs to change their name to "Rock and Roll Hall of Whoever gives us enough Money". Being inducted into the RRHOF means nothing anymore, you don't even have to be a rock band OR be influential to get in. Some band I've never even heard of called "The Zombies" got in this year. All I've heard for years is that the critics love them, but...Granted, they can be pretty darn heavy and quirky at the same time, but they never lose taste when presenting their plethora of styles and influences. They're quite a melting pot, but their stew is one of a kind (a la the Mona Lisa/Louvre comment). They've lived the music, can seriously write and play, and merit significant consideration for nomination. Posted by Kevin on Friday, 09/6/2019 @ 23:19pm |
If there are people IN the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame because of their admiration and emulation of King's X, but with half the musicianship and skill of King's X, then that's really all you need to know. Put King's X in! Posted by Brian L. on Saturday, 02/6/2021 @ 19:41pm |
King's X belongs for the same reason bands like Pixies and MC5 belong, they just had so much influence, even if they never got the commercial success or critical acclaim. But really, being underrated is kind of part of their brand, it would almost feel like the HoF is beneath them, from a fan perspective. It was almost a letdown when Dire Straits was admitted, and while I would have loved to have seen Knopfler tear up a version of Sultans of Swing at the induction ceremony, I'm kind of glad he skipped it. In that vein, bands like King's X are maybe a little too good for this crap institution. But for them, it'd still be nice to see them get the recognition, I know it would be huge for them to even be nominated. Posted by Paul on Friday, 05/14/2021 @ 18:28pm |
