Not only did Metallica name drop Deep Purple, Thin Lizzy, Rush, KISS, Ted Nugent, Alice Cooper, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Motorhead, Jethro Tull, and UFO during their induction into Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, but they also performed The Train Kept A-Rollin by Johnny Burnette and the Rock 'n' Roll Trio during the all-star jam! Johnny Burnette and the Rock 'n' Roll Trio still have not been inducted.

Lonesome train is a great song he sung in the 1956 movie rock rock rock. He wrote rock and roll songs for Rick Nelson in the 50s.

I'm sick of this historical revisionism! Everybody steals from everybody. That's how songs come about. Had Johnny Burnett had the voice and talent of getting a song across to the people he'd be the one who sold 1.5 billion records, he'd be the one that thousands of people flock to his home yearly, he'd be the King of Rock'N Roll. The truth is that "That's Alright" was the first Rock-a-Billy record ever played on radio by Dewey Phillips, and it is the song that launched the revolution. Now, deal with it, and stop with this BULLSHIT!!!

I agree with Simon Roe, "That's Alright Mama" by Elvis Presley was the first Rock-a-Billy record ever played on radio by Dewey Phillips.
Johnny and Dorsey Burnette, Ricky Nelson, Chuck Berry, Bill Halley and so on were all great, but if they had the voice, charisma and talent of getting a song across to thousands of people across the world, and to be able to sell more than
a billion records world wide, then they would be the Kings of Rock. Unfortunately they didn't. So the fact is Presley gave an injection to the music world when he started and if it wasn't for him, none of the others would have come along.
"That's Alright Mama" is basically what started it all. So let's deal with it, and stop with this Crap!

Hello Harry Lags and Simon Roe I think both of you steered away from the real point here. No one is disputing the impact Elvis ended up having on the world. However when we simply talk about Rockabilly that is actually another topic in itself. Real Rockabilly fans really don't regard Elvis as the main influence of Rockabilly at all. He's just another artist that helped rocket this style and rock n roll further. Elvis actually ended up living in the same apartments when he moved to Memphis that the Burnette brothers grew up in. Additionally Burnette brothers played in clubs and venues before Elvis did in Memphis and were already known locally. One of the main reasons Johnny Burnette did not become number one is because Johnny never watered down his lyrics like Elvis had to do. For example Johnny first sang "I want to make love to you" words and Elvis sang a similar song saying , "I want to play house with you" . Johnny also yelled distinctly in his songs which added the emotion in this new style they created. This unfiltered and often indecent approach kept them away from becoming more famous because they were just playing how they wanted and not what people necessarily wanted to hear which is what true Rockabilly artist admire, is the need to play your art. As far as what song launched the Rockabilly style. Johnny and Dorsey still win that title because they wrote the song Rockabilly Boogie in early 1956 before that's all right mama. Rockabilly was named after Johnny son and Dorsey son Rocky n Billy. Due to this fact, Bill Flag include the Rockabillies later the year to his band due to this. Also Paul Burlison was know your be the first with Burnette brothers to create a distortion in his playing style. When true Rockabilly fans say to induct The Burnette Brothers into the hall of fame it is not because they were more famous than Elvis at all. It is because they started a style that others ended up adopting and being influenced by and started a future revolution in rockabilly enthusiast that does not really include much of Elvis at all. Rockabilly was about being different and not becoming part necessarily of a worldwide sensation as that would defeat the purpose of setting yourself apart from the rest.

I think they have great chance to be inducted in musical influence category in ten years.
