If you don't think he'll get in, then you pay no attention to rock music or the hall of fame process. The guy has two albums in the Rolling Stone top 500 of all time. A lot of artists in with a lot fewer. Critics love him. He has dozens of absolute fantastic songs which hit all genres like buckshot (often in the same song).

Listen to "Odelay" and "Sea Change" and "Mutations" and see what you think. The public is too stupid to get into him, but the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is more about critical acclaim than public popularity.

Well, he's going to close out Forecastle this year & I'll be there to see him. Am expecting him to play his best stuff, so I will evaluate him & give my opinion after.

Saw Back close out the 2014 Forecastle fest. Had been leery about him in this position, as I have never really 'got' Beck. Must say he did a great job. Much more of an entertainer (with entertaining songs) than I had previously considered him. Had a great backing band, he played guitar about 1/2 the time. Crowd was very appreciative. I'm glad I saw him & would like to see him again.

Their first record was released in 1993, which according to the Hall of Fame's rule that states the first record has to have been released at least 25 years prior, means they will not be eligible until 2018.

I don't think Beck will be eligible until 2018.

Unless you count his collaboration with Black Flag, he won't be eligible until 2018.

It's almost unbelievable...but theAMAZINGcool has returned AGAIN !!!

His first demo was released in 1988. That means he's been eligible since 2013.

As strange as Beck was, he is 100% deserving to get into the hall!

If Beck gets a nomination this year, then I could see these inductees vote for him.

Neil Young
Pearl Jam
Green Day
The living members of Nirvana
U2
R.E.M.
The Heartbreakers
The living members of the Beastie Boys
ZZ Top
Some from The Rolling Stones

But I’m not sure he has enough voters to pick him up. Most of them would find to be too modern/alternative for their ears.

Beck just won another Grammy for “Best Alternative Album,” will that increase possibilities for him to get nominated for the Hall?

Beck just released a new single for a new album coming out called Hyperspace. can't wait for it to come out. Hopefully he gets nominated this year.

Beck will definitely make it in. He's got everything the Hall looks for in an artist; innovation, influence, critical acclaim, respect from his peers, distinctiveness, creative songwriting, respect for those who came before him, and a few songs that everybody knows (Loser, Where It's At). He'll make it once he's nominated.

I think Beck will get inducted in the next few years or so once Dave Matthews Band, Nine Inch Nails, Rage Against the Machine, Soundgarden, Foo Fighters and maybe Jane's Addiction are all in, so the 90's could be more prevalent. On the other hand, he's on a Radiohead level of critical acclaim, and it's possible he might get in sooner if there are enough support from critics not only because of his uniqueness, excellence, and innovations, but also the fact he's a hipster who came from the college scene (which is what critics love).

I just don't understand why some people won't admit that about him and other acts who are beloved by critics like Radiohead cause I don't think the term "hipster" is a derogatory, especially when I notice some attitudes and stereotypes of the sub-culture.

But in the end, Beck will get in where he belongs.

Obviously. Beck is known for mashing up folk music, hip-hop, electronica, and alternative rock in his music, and many, many, amazing albums to his name.

Beck's catalog is a collagescape of interesting changes of mood and space, with amazing beats and shifts of supersonic sounds! He is in the HOF for sure. The breadth and depth of Beck lives on, and if you've never heard the deeper album cuts or listened to the albums by order of songs, you're missing out and will never really GET IN! @ where it's at.

I mean, come on, Loser on its own gets him in...but he is so much more than that. Hell yeah he's gonna be in the Hall.

Incredible musician, fun and so interesting to listen to. Looking back, Beck has released a substantial body of music since recording Loser in '93. I own every Beck studio release on vinyl, ~ and, his records will always remain among the most prized of my collection.
All of Beck's record releases are each truly unique and his music is always original.
It would actually be really cool to see Beck inducted this year ~ well deserved.

One Foot In the Grave shows off his folk, acoustic side and is awesome. Yes, Sea Change and Odelay are his masterpieces. Morning Phase is really great too. He won the Grammy for Album of the Year for Morning Phase much to lame Kanye's chagrin. Lots of great songs. So many. Mutations is vastly underrated and Midnight Vultures is funky as hell. Genre bending and carried rock and roll after Cobain was gone with Arcade Fire (should be first ballot too). Modern Guilt was interesting and I do enjoy it quite a bit; good collaboration with Danger Mouse. The Information and Guero are just one notch below Sea Change and Odelay. He is vastly influential and the Bob Dylan of generation X. The millennials get it, we get it, baby boomers who have good taste in music get it. Hipster, no trend setter. The new album I thought was his worst ever but Hyperspace has grown on me quite a bit. I Won't Be Long is a great song and not even on an album. Sonic Youth should get in and same with Pavement. All are influential innovators in alternative music so not everyone is going to get their music but this is the truth. Beck is the truth and if he doesn't get in then the hall of fame in a farce. I like Colors too. Yes, I am a super fan. We are out there. Great live performer too.
