DarrinRG, hope you get to see them live someday. I expect they will headline several major festivals next year as they promote Reflektor.

I haven't got album yet, but I soon will.

I think Arcade Fire will be inducted in the RRHOF around 2030. Theyre one of the few newer groups where people gush about their music & concerts.

They have another 14 yrs before induction but they sure are on a Hall of Fame pace. KING

SPOILER ALERT:

Arcade Fire and Kanye West will both be first ballot hall of famers. 2029 will be one heck of an induction ceremony!

How is Sprawl II not on the essential songs?
and anyways they'll be 1st ballot HoFers because by 2028 the hall'll be out of "classic" acts to induct.

Essential songs are determined by the Song Project (a forum project where members participate in a voting process). Click on the link at the left to read more - we could always use more participants!

Saw Arcade Fire close the 2016 Voodoo Fest in NOLA, on a warm & beautiful Sunday night. Their set was criminally unattended, as the youths headed down to see Chainsmokers, who played at same time on EDM stage.

Those idiots!!! I have seen both acts & the freaking Chainsmokers aren't even in same area code as this band! I was a bit tired & sat in ADA area (had nice unobstructed view), but if I had wanted to I think I could have gotten 10th row (this is when showing up 10 mins before start of their set).

1st time I had seen them since 2011 & they played several songs from Reflektor, interspersed with greatest hits. Wonderful show by a wonderful band!

In on the First Ballot, and 100% deserved.

An overpraised band who are beloved by critics simply because they

Have to disagree, Dude. One of the best bands of the 2000's, IMO. One of the best live acts I've seen.

They do need to put out another 'Funeral' or 'Neon Bible' quality album, IMO.

With a new album coming soon and the departure of Will Butler I feel it's time to say they'll get in but the question is whether they're a FYI.

I think yes, as they're an acclaimed rock band that legit sold records and could pack arenas and headline festivals in an era where that was rare in rock, but am curious what everyone thinks

They have the classic debut with Funeral (RS Top 500) and won both the Polaris Music Prize and Grammy for Album of the Year with The Suburbs, which is one of 3 studio albums of theirs to top the Billboard 200. Both records also went Gold.

Would be flabbergasted if they never get in. Inducted in 1st 10 years, for sure. Not so sure on FYI, though. 6 or 7 years ago I would have said FYI, 100%. Now, after seeing acts like OutKast (who I thought were FYI locks) not get a nom for 4 or 5 years now, I feel they need to put out another epic album to secure a FYI.

There's alot of people in that band & I have a theory that the Hall doesn't cotton to acts with a bunch of people in them. That's why single person acts seem to do better. Just an observation, no real data to back it up.

I hear you and my wondering about FYI is largely due to them still being very active. I feel like if they were to continue releasing albums that reach the top of the charts they'll get the Green Day treatment but that's dependent on them not breaking up or going to crap. Could definitely see them waiting
